Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hey guys! I just got my first doodle about a month and a half ago and I have a few questions! I have been hearing a lot of stories about people getting mini goldendoodles and they turn out to not actually be minis. Has this happened to any of you? My dog, Banks, is about 14 weeks old now and he is HUGE. I'm not sure how much he weighs now (we are going to the vet Thursday) but he weighed 14.6 pounds at 12 weeks. The vet even told me she thought he was going to be a big dog. How big are your mini's if you have one? Banks is aF1 goldendoodle and I've heard mixed feedback on whether or not he will shed. What do you guys think? I attached a picture of Banks' dad, I didn't get to see him in person so its hard to tell how big he is though. His mom was a golden retriever and it was her first litter!

He is a cutie! His dad, to me, looks like a smaller standard (45ish pounds?). And if his mom is a golden, he might be about 50 pounds. I am guessing, so don't quote me:)
Good Luck! I would love for my second doodle to be his coloring! I am in love!
Is that bear from Costco? I was gonna buy it but don't have the room! love the photo!
Our breeder told us Banjo might top out at 35lbs. His father was a 17lb mini poodle. Banjo topped out at 52 lbs. Not sure why so many breeders make those kind of predictions....when clearly the mother's size and weight can predominate. Your little mini is totally adorable!!!!!
I just want to add, that Bella is about 55lbs right now, and she is a standard.(both parents were standard) Is she considered a smaller standard? I don't know if she is still filling out or not.... But she has stayed around that same size for a while now:)
Leo is a medium Goldendoodle and he is F1 30 lbs. We knew he could be 25-40. Golden Retriever mom and toy poodle dad. The mini doodles at breeder were 15-25 or so. Don't remember the exact info. Her standards are 40-70+ Your pup is adorable and might be on the bigger side medium/standard. So cute!
If your breeder told you that your puppy would end up weighing between 35 and 50 pounds, then as long as he is within that range (which sounds likely since he was 14.5 pounds at 12 weeks), then it really doesn't matter if he is considered a mini or not, right? He will probably end up weighing less than 50 pounds, which is what you were expecting. He is adorable!
