I like Ian Dunbar's book about bringing home a puppy. I forget the name.

Oh, I did not understand that you were looking for dog books. There are plenty out there and I have probably read most of them. However, having just gone through all my books to decide which I wanted to save for our move, I do have some favorite books just for happy reading times. Dean Koontz and Paulo Cuelho are two of my favorite authors and I have most of their books. Diana Gabaldon and Ginny Dye are also favorite authors and I have most of their books. I tend to like books about time travel, witches, vampires, historical fiction, as well as dog books. Dean Koontz wrote a great book about artificial intelligence in a golden retriever (he loves goldens) called Watchers. So, if you are just looking for good books to read, not for information about dogs, these are some good choices. A dog book I really liked was A Door for Merle and also Racing in the Rain but they are just good reading, not dog education books. Are you in the book group here at Doodle Kisses?
When I first got Bella, I read a ton of great reviews on this book and I love it! It is called, "Good Owners, Great Dogs". I don't agree with everything but a majority of it is very helpful! An Example: (This is not such a big deal) Bella responds better to voice commands, instead of the hand commands he talks about, so I just stick with the voice commands.
It is kind of like any instructional book, you just have to take in the advice, but do the things that you are ok with doing:)
I hope that helps!!
Tufts Veterinary School has a terrific newsletter for dog owners. It's called, "Your Dog," and you can sign up for it here: http://www.tuftsyourdog.com.
I also recommend both books by The Monks of New Skeet.
Happy reading!
