If I didn't love Wallace so much, I could destroy him right now. He has been free of accidents for the past 3 months (He is 7 months old). I leave him out of his crate during the day and everything. All of a sudden, he peed on the floor at my parents' house yesterday. Then he did it again this morning at my house! What the heck is happening to my well-behaved boy!? Has this happened to anyone? What did you do?

How much water is he drinking? more than usual? Turbo is going on 11 months on Dec 4th and only had peed in the house 3 times the first week I had him. He was 3 months old when I got him. I am retired and I make it a point during the day to take him out and give him the opportunity to do his business about every 2/3 hours during the day. Granted that most people are usually working and that isn't the case for there dogs. Now Turbo goes from 8 pm until 7 am when he wakes me but not to go out he wants to eat at that hour. After he eats then he goes out and does his business. Turbo has not been neutered. He is not a marker like some male dogs. My neighbors dog is 12 yrs old and he is a marker and even though he has been in my house many times since he was a pup he will sprinkle and mark in my kitchen. My other dogs were never markers and would go hours without going out to pee. .So if it isn't too much watch and not going out often enough or that he is a marker then I would say he should be vet checked. If everything is ok at the vet then I would crate him when you are not home or not able to take him out on a regular schedule. You still have to take into consideration that he is still a puppy and he could be having accidents. He could also be peeing at your parents house from excitement..Try the vet for a UTI.
As to visiting new environments, it is important to take them outside and show them where they are to go potty as soon as you get to a new place. Also you need to realize that your parents' house is a new environment - even if he has been there before. There are more distractions and you need to be more vigilant in watching his signs. As to your accident this morning, he is a puppy and puppies make mistakes. Our rescue - a full adult, had several accidents the first month or so that we had him and he was fully house broken.
Hi Sarah,
This will be me, very shortly! There is one thing that I would be curious about since I don't know when the first sanitary hair cut is performed. Have you done one yet? Any veteran owner reading this, when does the hair get to the place where a sanitary cut is needed?
Many thanks!
Ever since I got Turbo I have kept the hair around the poop shoot short. I do it myself. The curly hair can grow up into the poop shoot .
