Well it finally snowed in Southern Wisconsin today and Yeti had the time of his life! He could have played outside ALL day if we would have let him. 10 minutes of play left him all snowballed up though. I'm not really sure what to do in that situation. I have heard to use a blow dryer to melt them but boy oh boy does he hate that, so we put him in a warm bath. Obviously that worked but it left us with a soaking wet doodle for a couple of hours.  Now every time we go out he wants to play but i'm afraid we just don't have enough hours in the day to spend on snowball removal. Did a quick search and found that generally people are happy with the muttlucks attire. I'm thinking about getting him a snowsuit, possibly boots, we will see how the suit works out. I saw online they have a snowsuit and a rainsuit.

The question is, I am not necessarily getting this to keep him warm so would it be smarter to go with the rain suit? My thinking is the snowsuit (or rainsuit as the case may be) will help keep the snow from collecting on him. His hair i would say is medium length, which we plan to keep throughout the winter/spring. What are every ones thoughts?

Also for you wonderful people who own a muttluck snow or rainsuit, what size did you get? Yeti is a medium goldendoodle who weighs about 30-32 pounds. I tried to measure his back today but he was not having it so well have to wait until dad gets home so he can help.

Hi Haley, I have a 2 yo goldendoodle & live in NJ. Sonny absolutely loves playing in the snow, he would be out there all day if I let him . We have a big fenced in backyard so he likes to go out there in between his walks during the day & the snow balls that get encrusted on him are horrendous , especially in the groan area, inner thighs, arm pits, feet . I tried the warm water baths when he comes in, fresh warm towels from the dryer, but doing this a couple of times a day is not fun. So I found the reversible snow suit from Muttlicks, it was beautiful, made really well the material was great, loved it & so did Sonny but it didn't fi( needed approx 2-3 extra inches across his chest to get it fastenedt , he is 80 lbs , I got the biggest size 26 had to return it, was so upset, the quality was great. I would go with either coat, the cold weather doesn't seem to bother doodles it seems , which surprises me, didn't think their hair is that insulating, but then again maybe it's their energy expenditure that keeps them warm ;-). BTW Yeti is absolutely gorgeous, love his coloring too.

Thank you SO much for the advice Lisa. I knew living in WI would make things a little more interesting in the spring and winter months. I think i'm going to take your advice and go ahead and order him a suit. Im just trying to decide on the snowsuit or the rainsuit. I agree Yeti doesn't seemed to be phased by the cold weather so i worry that the snowsuit might be a little too warm. I think i will definitely give boots a shot too!

Thank you thank you thank you DonMarie for the much needed laugh on this snowy monday morning :).

It doesn't snow every day here in Denver either but it does snow often enough that I would rather have a suit to put on my Ike rather than deal with doodle balls. I don't have a hand held shower head and he is not fond of the hair dryer. And as often as he loves to go out and play, I think the suit would be easier than repeated showers. However, he just turned a year old two weeks ago so this winter will determine what I find is easiest. I just joined this blog and am really enjoying it so far. How can anyone not love Doodles or Doodle Lovers!
