Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My 9 week old golden doodle is showing some aggression towards other puppies. Its not your typical puppy play, the first time was at my work(daycare) i didn't get to see why it happened but all i heard was snarling from both dogs. the second time was when a friend brought over their puppy and my dog snapped and started snarling and was biting at the other dog. I'm not sure why this happening nor do i know how to correct the behavior. he is a great dog otherwise and isn't a dominant dog so I'm wondering if the first dog was irritating him and the second was in his territory which he didn't like?

My nearly 5 month old did the same behavior while I was talking to a trainer. She has a Canine Companion puppy she is training (16 months old) and my darling, sweet, lovable, kind puppy snarled and snapped at him. My trainer is so knowledgeable and observed that Oliver was afraid and has just started using his bark. They are all dogs (not human, LOL) so we are working on this. I know how you must feel, but he is still so young, though early training and socializing is important. We have a nine year old Basset that less than tolerates our pup.. she snarls and barks at him when he bugs her too much. There are so many helpful people on this forum, just reading helps me a lot. I must admit that I cried when Oliver snarled. My anxiety seems to transfer to him. Think I'll meditate. Keep in touch.
Updated to add: He is getting so much better with socialization. How are things going for you!
Thats great! So is mine:) he did it at training again and it was because the other dog was irritating him. I beleive thats why he lashes out because he doesnt like to play much which is surprising consdiering hes 12 weeks now haha
