Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

So this is Atticus yesterday at the Brooklyn Family Justice Center, making himself at home in one of my favorite ADA's office
; he's checking out a chair in her office and has already put in his request for a large reclining chair which he can share with a child whenever his magical four legged support is needed.  Atticus has gained 7 pounds in the last three weeks and his now 27 lbs at 14 weeks, He's pra
cticing his "don't I look cute look" with all my colleagues so he can get an endless supply of treats....that's my boy! Atticus has started his training so he can become a Pet Partners Therapy dog, and has fallen in love with all of his future colleagues.....I'm certain my beloved Paz is the angel on Atticus' shoulder, guiding him every step of the way. Thank you Pazzie, for your hard work and love which paved the way for Atticus to continue your amazing work with the youngest and most vulnerable victims/ witnesses of domestic violence.....Paz, you will live in our hearts forever.

Wow, he's looking quite grown up in this picture. So glad that he's learning the ropes already, Paz is surely watching over you guys.

I can see why Atticus is charming everyone.  He is just adorable!

Did he become lighter in color? He's cute either way. :)

He is just adorable. The kids will love him.

What a cutie.  Curious - how does one know at this age if a puppy is cut out out for therapy work?

Great question.  Atticus was purchased from a breeder who specializes in breeding Australian Labradoodles who have the greatest potential to be trained as therapy/service dogs.  The litter was evaluated professionally at 7 weeks to assess those puppies who the tester felt are demonstrating the inherent traits that will make them great service/therapy dogs and Atticus scored #1.  Additionally, Pazs Pet Partners trainer, collaborated with the breeder to assess the puppies; the trainer is already training Atticus and she loves him.  He is outgoing, confident and loves new experiences....he's also a big goof ball.  I am taking him to work so as to familiarize him with the environment in which he will work, and his confidence is truly exceptional.

Atticus is such a handsome doodle - I am following his progress!  Thank you for explaining.  I have two ALDs and my breeder also uses bio-sensor testing at 7 weeks to choose the family that will be best for each puppy.  I just find it interesting.  Our boys are 6 and 4 (same father, but different mother - and in some respects as different as night & day, but each is off the charts sweet. love people and are very laid-back..

I used the early neurological stimulation with Hershey's pups between 3 and 16 days old then did the  bio-sensory testing at 7 weeks and found that it gave us a better insight of the dogs natural personalities.  The pups that showed caution at new experiences, did need more guidance in socialization.

What a wonderful adventure Atticus (LOVE the name) will have with his family.

He's adorable.  I was thinking that the chair upholstery looks like pieces of a doodle puzzle randomly put together but on closer inspection, I think it's teddy bears - but to me doodles look like lovable teddy bears so I guess that's why my first impression was doodles :)

Those are some lucky co-workers to have sweet Atticus with them every day! Thank you for training him to do this wonderful work.

Atticus is just beautiful I am sure Paz is guiding him along the way. :)

What a wonderful job he has ahead of him!!
