First would like to say that I am glad I found this group. Not knowing better, we put Chevy on Hill's Healthy Advantage Puppy (Vet Exclusive) and Royal Canin Development Puppy canned because we assumed that the vet knows best. Until I started researching because Chevy is always hungry. Sniffs around for food all the time, even right after he has ate. Runs to his bowl like he is trying to win a marathon when he know I am about to put it in there. And his nipping gets unmanageable close to feeding times. Barks when anyone goes in kitchen. Really the only time he barks other than to go outside. Makes sense because of the less protein and more carbs. The mom in me added small amounts of egg in his food, which seemed to help a little. Also, have given small amounts of carrot as a snack. However, now that I have researched... I want him off Hill's completely.
My question is... which food would you recommend from the preferred food list for a hungry puppy. I told the vet I was changing him and she did say that Orijen is high in protein and could cause loose stools. Also, to gradually change him. But she also asked why? I told her. And like so many others on here have said... she stated that it was marketing, blah blah. And that grains are ok... blah blah. But I told her he is hungry and I think he needs more protein. That I had been adding egg cuz that is the mom thing to do... protein. Anyways, I can get Orijen and Acana here locally (Lethbridge, AB).
Currently feeding Chevy 3 times a day. 1/2 cup Hill's Healthy Advantage Puppy (Dry), 1 Tsp of Royal Canin Development Puppy (Can) and 1/8 cup egg per feeding. He weighs 13.6 lbs and is 11 1/2 weeks old.
What would you suggest? Open to any ideas. Just prefer to start with something that will hopefully curb the hunger. Thanks :)

Also have question about activity and amount of food. Chevy is very active. I have read how some puppies sleep a lot. Chevy sleeps or at least rests all night. He is up all day and has a couple little naps. We have a 4 level house and he mastered the stairs (up and down) the first week. He takes his toys from level to level. Runs down stairs when the bunnies are stirring around. Also, wimpers then barks when he needs to go outside to do his business and then plays for a few minutes. He is very busy all the time he is awake and it makes me wonder if he might need more food than what is suggested.
For his weight/age, shouldn't he be getting about 2 cups a day of the healthy advantage? Are you reducing it because of the tsp of Royal Canin you are adding. For that small amount I wouldn't even bother reducing the amount of kibble.
I think that any of the foods on the list would be good. Origen and Acana are certainly high protein and recommended here. Some pups can't handle the higher protein, but honestly the only way to know is to try. Just go very slowly in the transition.
My puppy is 16 weeks and has had stomach troubles so we've been homecooking, but I will say that he has always been like a vacuum, consuming his food at lightening speed. He barks and gets excited any time one of us is in the kitchen even if he just ate. It's just his personality. He loves food. We actually bought him slow feeding bowl to see if we could slow him down. It has worked well, although he's figured it out and is much faster now, but still slower than a regular bowl.
