Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I bet no one expected this question on a doodle forum :D

I am shopping for underwear for my 50lb goldendoodle who will be neutered next week. I have heard that boys underwear makes a good barrier to prevent messing with the stitches. But which one works better, tight fitting boxers or briefs?

Also does anyone have an underwear size recommendation for a 50lb goldendoodle?

I would love to see any doggy underwear pictures you might have too.

Jake looks rather comfy in those :D

Hi, If you search for my discussion of March 1, 2013, called, Wearing Her Onesie, you will see how we put Charlotte in a baby's Onesie after her surgery.

We had both of our boys neutered at the same time and were very fortunate that neither of them bothered their stitches. No cones - no underwear - no problem. But our vet uses wire sutures. (Casey did rip his knee open a few months ago, had "regular" sutures - and took them out the same night. 2nd round was Dermabond - superglue by any other name!!)
Desi is quite the contortionist and a real licker, so when he was neutered he was able to get past both the Comfy Cone and the inflatable ring. We tried toddler boys underwear but he could get up the leg hole. We ended up using the cone AND a ring AND a pair of my granddaughter's pajama bottoms. It was a long week!!

Cori, on the other hand, seemed completely unfazed by her spay. We put her in a onesie just in case (and because she looked so cute) but I think we could have gotten by with nothing.

I'll see if I can find pictures.

Good luck!!

Oh my, that is one persistant pup! I think I will plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Here's a pic of the two halves - Desi must have destroyed the pic of the complete ensemble.

Haha, luckily Desi didn't find these ones. They are definitely doggy blackmail worthy :)

I found that the medical pet shirt works the best. You can read about it at medicalpetshirts.com. It's like a onesie made for dogs. When my dog has to go potty, I just pull the rear part to the front and snap the top part to the bottom. The company who makes it is from the Netherlands and only vets carry it.
