Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So we were at a a doodle party last night at a local shop...at the end of the night someone went to purchase Stella&Chewy's patties when another doodle owner kindly called her over and pointed out an ingredient (Sodium Phospate) that she said she was concerned about it being like 4th on the list....She mentioned Primal being basically the same type of food and not containing it at all...
Just wondering your thoughts and if Primal is worth the switch...I see they are both on the recommended Food Lists, but wanted to know if one truly was healthier than the other.
Graycie is pretty much dependent on the extra crumble, so want to make sure I give her the better of all the choices out there!
Thanks!

Well, I looked at Stella & Chewy's website, at both the frozen patties and the freeze-dried patties in several varieties (since you didn't specify which ones were being discussed, lol), and I didn't see any product that has sodium phosphate as the 4th ingredient, or even within the first 10 ingredients. And sodium phosphate in small amounts is not harmful; in fact, it's an essential nutrient. There's no reason to be concerned about it in small amounts.
It's not in Primal, because there aren't any added vitamins or minerals in Primal. Nothing. It kind of makes me wonder how the food could provide all of the nutrients a dog requires, but their labeling says it does.
I personally would not switch from Stella & Chewy's to Primal for this reason.
same product.....is postassium chloride something to worry about??
No. Potassium chloride is a supplemental form of potassium, which is a necessary nutrient. :)
