I recently discovered something in my dog's ear that does not look natural. It's black (or a really dark brown) and it's just jutting out of the ear. Im not sure how long it was there. I researched a bit and I'm pretty sure it's ear hermatoma. Nothing is in the other ear. Noodle does shake his head, but I thought that was natural for dogs.
What should I do? Is surgery necessary? Is there a way to just clean the ear and let the bump go down over time?

It's always best to consult with your vet. Only he/she can accurately diagnosis it and formulate a plan of care. Any advice that people give here, or any place else on the Internet, shouldn't be used as a substitution for good vet care. Best wishes!

It needs to be drained by a Vet. The ear could shrivel and be malformed, if not. Had a female Golden who got these at least 3 times in her lifetime. Either shaking her head violently ( more than normal) or rough play with another dog. P,ease, see a Vet!

After you get it checked out, please let us know what it is and what the recommended treatment for your doodle is.
