Our 5 yr old Lilly, got into my daughters tampons. She ripped the wrappers off and chewed the plastic applicators. There is one tampon unaccounted for, we can't find it and assume she swallowed it. We're concerned about inducing vomiting, for fear of it getting stuck in her throat. However I read online you should induce and you have up to two hours to do so. It has been 45 to an hour ago.
What to do?!

Jeanne, you need to get her to an ER now. It's not digestible and can absorb many times it's weight in fluid. And the string can become tangled in the GI tract and cut off circulation to the organs. This is an actual emergency.

Thanks Karen, we are at the vet ER now

Good luck!  Thinking of you both with fingers crossed!

Good luck, please keep us posted.

Will do
She successful has vomited the tampon!!!
I'm gl
Great news.

Wow  - great news.

Oh good! I was afraid to tell you to try to induce vomiting at home because of the chance of it getting caught in her throat or esophagus.

Yes, when I spoke with a tech at the ER, she said it's better for them to induce, "in case of complications." I figured she meant, it could lodge in her throat.
All is well, she is happily sleeping now.

Sweet dreams!

Glad it worked out Jeanne.
