I am seriously having trouble finding a dog! Is it typical to have to wait a year to get a puppy from a reputable breeder? Since I am new to this doodle world, I guess I did not realize how popular this breed is. The wait will kill me!!!!! I guess I will have to live vicariously through you and all your sweet doodles in the meantime!

Well, I stand corrected....just heard back from my contact and they tell me their wait list has EXPLODED.  F1Minis in the Summer/Fall....F1B Minis late-Summer.....Toys later this year (Fall or Winter).

It's unreal.....I contacted them last July, placed a deposit, and got on their waiting list (#1 spot, too !) and got Teddy ALL WITHIN 2 MONTHS.  Same thing today for a Toy and I am looking at anywhere from 6-9 months and probably wouldn't even get first dibs on the litter.

Yep! That is what I am seeing! It is crazy!!!! Good luck!

I think word-of-mouth is spreading about Goldendoodles.....I am asked all the time when I take Teddy places what kind of dog is he.....I think the real popularity is in the Minis/Toys vs. the full-sized Standards....it doesn't take many people to spread the word to create a shortage at a few of the quality breeders.

Don't forget, with so many people renting and having less living space, Minis would be expected to increase in popularity.

Our breeder has pretty full lists and she doesn't breed toys or minis at all. I think it's goldendoodles in general, and breeders with good reputations.

No disagreement.....but see my comments above for a breeder that only does Minis/Toys.  I went from nowhere to #1 on their waiting list (for a Toy) and got Teddy ALL WITHIN 2 MONTHS !!

That was only 9 months ago.

Today, you have a 6-9 month wait for the Toys and you're probably not #1 on the Wait List...time to wait for Minis and F1B Minis has also gone up, but maybe not as much (more liters each year).

I felt the same way! I started looking for a dog last spring and we just got Honey in February. I think I looked at every breeder in the country and was so frustrated at times. I was set on getting an F1, female, darker color, and medium size. At times I almost gave up but then all of a sudden, I found the perfect litter and jumped on it! It will happen and you'll get the dog you're meant to have!

Thank you for the words of encouragement!

I'm in NJ. I spoke with a breeder who seems to be reputable and has a lot of positive feedback but I would like to hear from anyone on this forum who has one of these dogs. I'm not sure how to go about finding that out, though, without actually posting the name.

Does the breeder meet the criteria in What to Look for in a Breeder? Are they a member of GANA
