12 week update

Things are going well at 4 weeks home. Dante sleeps all night in a crate without protest potties outside, knows sit, shake and down and is learning stay (I can go across the room). We live in a cemetery and he walks the property with us several times a day, stays fairly close when off leash (we let him drag a long line on when we walk the property), and comes when called. He doesn't like getting in the car (puts on the brakes!), but rides very nicely and we try to take him in the car every day. Once in the car, he lies down on his blanket. He seems to understand the boundaries of the property extremely well, but we are careful. The kids adore him.

He has a soft mouth, and responds very well to corrections when he gets excited and get mouthy. He eats well. We followed our breeders instructions for feeding him his first few days at home (he was on Fromm Puppy gold at the breeders, she recommends all new puppies are fed rice/chicken mixture for the first few days, then slowly increase the Fromm puppy with a probiotic). No digestive issues (fingers crossed).

normal puppy antics, but he settles nicely. We started puppy class a little over a week ago, and he's never met a dog or person he didn't love. We are exposing him to many different things, trucks, noises, people, etc that he will encounter in the cemetery. We use doggy dan's method of "make nothing of it", and so far, it's working nicely. We've exposed him to probably 70 new people outside our family. We love doggy dan's training methods. I can't recommend them enough.

It has gone much better for the first month that I expected. We are loving having him in our family and he makes me laugh every single day. I love seeing his joy in discovering new things. Can't wait until his shots are done and we can expand his world a bit more.
