Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello, I recently put a deposit for a goldendoodle which is a F1B. Mom is a Goldendoodle which is very poodlish and dad is a golden retriever. Attached is a picture of the most curliest baby at two weeks. Is he going to be a true goldendoodle with curls/waves with long coating? This is my first dog and want to make sure I am getting I want looking for. Appreciate the help!

I have a 13-week old puppy who comes from the same mix - dad is a retriever and mom is a very curly golden doodle. He is showing to be more a retriever but started out as a puppy with waves and signs of facial furnishings. He is VERY smart and VERY sweet. He sheds quite a bit but we love him. I guess as with mixed breeds it could be hard to predict how their coats turn out unless they are very curly. I may not get the look I wanted but our Milo has a great temperament. He is so easy we could not ask for anything more. Here is a photo of him at 10 weeks.

Thanks for sharing the pic. He looks very much like a retriever. He is very cute !!!!

Do you have a picture of him when he is 6 weeks or 7 weeks?

First photo is at about 4 weeks and the second at 7. I think that there is a potential for him to look scruffier as he gets older so we'll just have to wait and see. Right now he has waves down the middle of his back and his fur is very soft.

What are facial furnishings? Never heard about it. Does my pup have facial furnishings?

The furnishings are the longer hair around the muzzle, between the eyes, and over the eyes that create the shaggy face that is the typical "doodle-y" look.

Hi Karen ! Is it possible to 'lose' these furnishings only to have them grow back as our pups get older ? It seems my pup could be trending this way.

I don't think so. There is a gene for the furnishings and either it's there from birth or it isn't. They usually become more pronounced as the puppy gets older, not less. But you never know. I did think I saw the beginnings of furnishings on your pup's 4 and 6 week photo, but it really is so hard to predict that at such a young age.

Karen, do you see furnishings for my pup?

Yes, they are very obvious on your puppy.

Thanks Karen. Can't wait to have him home :).
