Does your doodle flood the house when he drinks water??

I know that I am not alone in this...Henry is the sloppiest water drinker ever, he trails water everywhere after he gets a drink from his bowl in the kitchen...big drops of water that he then steps in and drags throughout the tile kitchen and into the living room which is also tile. I have a feeling the longer his furnishings grow the worse this is going to get. I can just see myself slipping in my flip flops and breaking my fool neck! Short of running to him with a towel (which he thinks is me initiating a tug of war situation) does anyone have ideas that have worked for them to keep from having a wet and slippery floor? I have the bowl on a towel but that doesn't help much as he walks away dripping a cup full of water with each step for several feet.

I've got a BIG time messy drinker too!  Drip, drip everywhere.  I cut her beard much shorter but kept other furnishings which seemed to help some.  I recently had new floors put in, so there is tile in my kitchen area where she drinks. I just let it dry on it's own.   At least it is better now with wood floors instead of carpet - now that was a pain!  :^)

I just took a look at this bowl on Amazon...did Dante transition from an open bowl to this one pretty easily? It sure looks like it will cut down on the big plops of water that drip off Henry's beard.

yes, he drinks from it just fine.  I was worried about that too.  I will say, he doesn't LOVE it.  It takes him longer to get as much water than just slobbering it all over the place.  Given the choice, I think he'd rather drink from an open bowl.  But it works great for us, and it's super easy to take in the car, etc because it won't spill easily.  What I love best about it is that it keeps his drinking water clean- so much of his beard got into his open bowl that the water was CONSTANTLY dirty.

Oh boy do I second that about the dirty water! I keep a bowl on the patio and that one is always filled with dirt and the one in the kitchen always needs to be cleaned and refilled after he eats because the water is disgusting. 

It's in my shopping cart along with a raised feeding station. Henry is getting so big (40# at 19 weeks!) that he is constantly shifting position while eating so I'm hoping that a raised dish might help him out. I figure if he is having issues now and he is going to double in height possibly I want to make it easy on him to eat standing up LOL.

You are just going to have to teach Henry how to wipe his face after a drink.  We got Winslow a Neater Feeder, which catches water from messy drinkers.  Since it is a larger feeder, it is too big for her currently since she is only 9 weeks old, but she will be using it in the not to distant future.  However, she doesn't make a mess while drinking...she makes it while splashing in her water bowl.  

Also, we have the Omega Paw Hungry Pet Bone Mat which keeps the are a little cleaner under her current bowls since the catch a lot of the food and water.

Winslow is adorable and I LOVE the name!

Henry has quite the facial furnishings already at 20 weeks and all the water absorbs like a sponge into that fur and then drips all over the dang place. He is actually a pretty dainty/neat and slow eater...we are constantly surprised that our nippy/mouthy landshark is the gentlest nibbler when it comes to food, especially when we give him treats. He will mouth it out of our hands with his lips only and won't touch our fingers or hands with his teeth.

Vern is the messiest dog I have ever had. When he drinks, he drips it all over everywhere. When he eats, he likes to get a mouthful and then walk around and drop it on the floor and maybe eat most of it. He messes up every bed he has each night and I wake up to blankets all over the place in the morning. He likes to dig on each of his beds. He rolls about 4 times per walk. Over the years, I have just lowered my standards...LOL. I think Vern is trying to tell me to lighten up and clean less.

Laurie LOL! I so understand the digging in his beds and rolling on his play time in the park. Henry had his first full big boy grooming on Thursday and I refused to take him to the park that night because after he rolls around he comes home stinky! Horrible of me that my first thought was "oh no! Not after a $75 bath and grooming, I want at least a full 24 hours of you smelling and your coat feeling nice!"

Henry has his toys all over the house and my floors are messy all the time now; you would swear I ran a daycare!

Dolly, I made the mistake once of taking Vern to the dog park the next day after he was groomed. He found the one mud puddle in the whole park and this is how it ended up.

I swear after it happened, I tried to sell him...LOL...I kept yelling, "one dog for sale!" I had no takers, but people did offer me towels.

Jake is a disaster with both food and water.

Food he likes to graze during his 15 minutes of breakfast and dinner, you know take a mouthful and wander about chewing while looking around...

The area around his water bowl is considered a golfing water hazard around here, water withing a 3 foot distance around his entire water bowl...

He also likes to get a big old sloppy drink and then wander around the house and put his chin on you, or shake so you can experience his drink too.
