Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Sorry, I just copied and pasted the text below from the facebook post I saw. This sort of thing makes me so sad. Just the idea of supporting a breeder who would do something like this makes me feel ill. I wish there was something I could do for these sweet pups. But my hands are full with my two. I wish them all wonderful homes.
Blessed Day Doodles 30 mins · Do your homework when purchasing...this breeder turns dogs over to a "rescue" on a monthly basis. In speaking with the rescue I learned that the breeder has turned over 125 dogs in 12 mos. When she can't sell them she won't drop prices she turns them over to the rescue at 5-6 mos. When you look at her website and see how many litters she has it's pretty obvious. She's in Ohio. She's been turned in but bc the rescue doesn't take photos of her turning them over no charges can be pressed due to neglect. https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/38459621 I found 17 Mini Labradoodles on Petfinder Meet 17 Mini Labradoodles, an adoptable Labrador Retriever looking for a forever home. I'm just making this up. If the rescue organization is a 501c3 can a breeder deduct the "value" of the puppy from their income? Like a charitable donation? Maybe it's a tax thing. And if the puppy is 6 months old and the breeder can't sell it anyway... I just firmly believe that things like that don't happen without a reason.
I thought about the tax deduction angle, too. Stacy. I do believe that if a breeder donates a puppy to a charitable organization, such as an auction for charity (some do that, even though I personally think it stinks) or a service dog agency, they can deduct the 'fair market value of the puppy from their taxes. So it may be they can do it in this type of case as well.
Also, although the listing states that the pups will be adopted out on a spay/neuter contract, they rarely follow through on anything once a dog has left their premises, and I fear some of these pups are going to end up as breeding dogs in other puppy mills and BYBs.
I'm sure you're right. I used to read some of the horror stories about dog auctions and the dogs that were sold as breeding stock. Those adoption fees are auction prices.
Those poor babies. I wish I could just save them all and take them to the dog park.
No dog parks for these guys, at least not for a good long time. Flight risks, and too many fear issues.
