Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

So Im new here. (Hi!!) and Im not a new dog owner by any means. We've had dogs all my life and i can never remember having a dog with this many accidents this late. We got Finn our adorable Double Doodle in february at 8 weeks. He's just now 6 months and we still are having consistent accidents. Like 1 a day. He is bell trained. We use consistent praise, Dont punish. We crate train and just when i think i can take my eye off him for a second, he has an accident. Am i expecting too much at this age? Its been months of consistent training.

Also, hes an excited peer. He gets excited and pees all over. We know not to excite him but its unpredictable and we have a hard time when we go to other peoples houses or guests come over. My vet said that its just something that happens and it may or may not go away. Im fairly certain its not submissive because he doesnt display any submissive stance or behaviors.

Am i alone? Im so tired of smelling pee!

Thanks Karen. I will check out that link you provided. The treats I get are USA made but I will also check out any preservatives. I use Dingo treats.

Dingo Treat

Made in the USA is not the same as sourced in the USA. Many of the treats that have harmed and killed pets were made in the USA, most notably, chicken jerky. The ingredients are imported from other countries. The Dingo treats also contain several ingredients that are not good or necessary for dogs: soy grits & sugar, as well as propylene glycol, which is basically anti-freeze. From the Dog Food Project Ingredients to Avoid:

Propylene Glycol

A colorless viscous hygroscopic liquid, CH3CHOHCH2OH, used in antifreeze solutions, in hydraulic fluids, and as a solvent.

Used as humectant in semi-moist kibble to keep it from drying out. May be toxic if consumed in large amounts, and should definitely not be an ingredient in a food an animal will eat daily for weeks, months or even years of its life. In countries of the European Union, propylene glycol is not cleared as a general-purpose food grade product or direct food additive.

There are better choices, lol.

Thanks for the info Karen. That's why I love this site.

Glad to help. Those of us whose dogs have had serious health issues would never want others to go through it. :)

There's also a preservative called sodium nitrite which is believed to cause cancer in both humans dogs. http://dogcare.dailypuppy.com/sodium-nitrite-additive-dog-food-5193...
