Yes, that could very well have been the problem.
You're lucky he pooped it out. My daughters cat ate a piece of foam flooring that the treadmill sits on. That was a $3000 vet bill.
The vet suspected there was an obstruction, did an x-ray. Sure enough there was, but couldn't tell what it was. The vet gave my daughter the foam thing he found in the cat during surgery. We realized it was the missing corner piece of the foam flooring. He had swallowed it whole. He fully recovered from it.
The chews with the enzymes didn't set well with Skadi. I had given them to her for quite a while before she started having trouble digesting them...go figure. I do not give them any rawhides or even the product they call smart bones...that red stripe in the middle of the bone caused problems too. I just stick to their dogfood for treats, frozen liver, gizzards, heart and once in awhile if I can afford it they can have a bully stick. I do give them femur bones or soup bones...I give them raw frozen also...that helps their teeth and keeps their breath fresh.
Glad your baby is on the mend. They certainly make us worry worry worry.
I don't know how old Yeti is, but if you haven't been brushing his teeth, there's no time like the present. Make sure you have a good toothpaste, a soft toothbrush for dogs...Skadi wants her teeth brushed every night! Elli (our craigslist find) came to me with perio problems so I will have to have her teeth/gums taken care of at the vet. Brushing their teeth is a love/hate ordeal...they love the toothpaste, so start with plenty...they hate having that brush stuck in their mouth! It's so cute when I brush her teeth tho...just a few swipes if you can get them in.
Joan ~ what toothpaste do you use?
Any type of enzymatic toothpaste...my husband is a dentist and he says that's the best type. Chicken flavor or whatever your pups preference.
I was just curious. I have been using Virbac Veggie Dents forever. Beau loves them. He eats his immediately, but Charlie will carry his around like a cigar until he gets worried Beau is going to get it and then he will eat it, but it takes him about 20 minutes. I still have to brush Charlie's teeth way more often that Beau's. I am using an enzymatic by Sentry Petrodex. I wish Charlie loved the veggie dents because I think they really do the trick. I brush Beau's teeth every week or two - but he insists on his veggie dent daily, and if I forget he will remind me! He is hilarious. Beau will be 5 in August and he has fantastic white teeth.
