Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
All,
Just sharing a letter I received from Chewy today, although I am certain others here have received something similar. In short, it says Chewy will no longer carry Fromm products, per Fromm instructions.
I’m sorry to let you know that Fromm Family Foods will no longer be available at Chewy and will only be available while supplies last. Fromm has decided to limit their distribution and will no longer service Chewy customers. |
I am very disappointed by Fromm's decision to end their retail partnership with us because it greatly impacts you, our customer. Their business decision to limit distribution was clearly not in the best interest of customers like you, who have come to rely on Chewy to feed your furry family. |
When I founded our company my mission was simple, deliver the highest quality products at the best prices and provide an unmatched customer experience. We have always put our customers and their pets at the center of everything we do. That’s why we have the most knowledgeable customer service representatives in the industry dedicated to providing best-in-class customer service and adding personal touches to online shopping with handwritten cards and hand-painted portraits of your pets. |
It’s particularly upsetting that despite all of my company’s efforts and personal relationships throughout the years, Fromm has decided that they will no longer service our customers. |
I urge all customers who are affected by this to personally contact Fromm directly to let them know you rely on the convenience of delivery and value the personalized service you receive from Chewy. Unfortunately, for many of you this decision will result in your inability to get these products in a convenient way. Please encourage Fromm not to put their corporate interests above the interests of their customers and their pets. |

Unfortunately, it's not just Fromm. Champion will no longer be selling Orijen and Acana through chewy either, due to Petsmart now owning chewy. (Another company that is not on our list, Tuffy's, makers of Nutrisource and Pure Vita, has also announced they will not sell through chewy now that the buyout is complete.) I'm afraid there will be other companies on our list following suit. Basically, if you can't buy it at Petsmart, you probably won't be able to buy it through chewy.com. :(
Good Morning Karen! I just signed up on Petflow to buy Bentley's Acana single protein dry kibble for the first time since the Chewy buy out. They only carry two flavors in the 25 pound bag. Do you have another limited protein brand that would be comparable that you would suggest? I'm not opposed to trying something new and have plenty of his current Acana Wild Mackerel to transition him slowly.
Look at Zignature; all of their formulas except Zssentials are LID, all are grain free, and they have a wide range of different proteins that you can rotate.
Thanks so much, I will go order some now! I appreciate your wealth of knowledge and that you are willing to share that with this group so our babies can get the best nutrition possible. Have a great day!
Thanks Mindy, you too!
Seems like every time I find any company that offers good quality, customer support and pricing, they get bought out. :(
I think this is so interesting. I don't understand all of the corproate culture and whatnot, but I bet Petsmart isn't happy that the "good" brands won't sell to Chewy now that they own it. I would assume that with that development Chewy would be worth significantly less.
I really don't understand all of the politics involved, and I know it will be an inconvenience to some people, but isn't it a good thing that Fromm is sticking to their values and not selling out to the big corporate monster? I mean, isn't that what has happened to all the other "good" brands that people don't feed anymore? They got bought out by proctor and gamble or delmonte or nestle or whoever and their quality was compromised?
I'm just glad I have a local source for dog food and the girls won't go hungry.
You have a good point, Stacy. I do admire these companies for sticking to their principles and refusing to sell through "big box" chain stores (or the online versions of them, lol.)
I'm just concerned about the many people who don't have local access to stores that carry most of the recommended brands.
Sometimes I forget that not everyone lives in an area where you can get all the niche dog foods. I'm lucky in that respect.
It's really too bad that chewy.com sold out. They really did have great customer service and had built quite an empire. I always wonder what people are thinking, if they're doing really well but they still need to be bigger. I obviously don't have that!
3.35 billion would be hard for anyone to turn down, lol.

That's such a big number I can't hardly wrap my head around it. What would you even do with that much money? I would retire and not feel guilty about going shopping. And all my friends and family could have new houses. Oops, that number got my imagination spinning a little off topic!
