Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi All! New to the DK Community! We are bringing our little Mini Goldendoodle home in about 6 weeks and cannot be more excited! I have been reading a lot on this site and have received many tips and advice already!

I am really concerned about parvo. I have had a friend who's dog got parvo as a puppy and was a horrible experience for both the puppy and them. My plan is to keep the puppy at home while she is still young to prevent contracting parvo. We don't have any other dogs, but my parents have brought their two dogs over in the past, and have played in our yard. Is there a way to disinfect? Looks like bleach may be the only solution, but should I be concerned enough to bleach the yard?

Also, are visitors okay? Or should we wait a certain amount of time until our puppy comes into contact with others?

We will be new puppy-PAWrents so we want the best for our girl. Any advice is great!

Hi All,

Thought I'd pop in and update you on our first weekend with our little girl, Puddles! We picked her up on Friday, a five hour drive. She was amazing the whole car ride and we had no issues. She is already so outgoing and LOVES being outside and running around. She is starting to feel very comfortable in the house, so I am trying to limit her roaming, so she doesn't get herself into trouble! She is also nipping a bit, so we are working on that. Night time has been great, and she is using her crate, even when it's not bedtime, glad she feels comfortable in it! I got the snuggle puppy but she didn't really care about it. We have it in her crate, but don't use the warmer or heartbeat.  We have a lot of learning to do, both myself and her, but she is a doll and already love her so much!
