Good morning.  I need your input.  Our doodle is barking at everything.  She barks when she wants the other dogs to play, she barks when they play, she barks when I walk away from her, she barks because she wants to I don't know why she barks like that but it is so loud and I don't know how to keep her from doing it.  She had been sleeping through the night and now at 3 am she barks so we do let her out to go potty and she does potty but then we put her right back up.  Guess what she barks.  I told my husband to ignore it because she wants out.  Any suggestions?

Bark collar that sprays a funky scent when she barks?  I don't know, I have the same problem and ignoring the barking doesn't seem to help.  I am currently thinking of getting a collar.

I use a citronella spray collar and it works wonders for Picco!  I don't even have to turn it on anymore, I just put the collar on. But I know it doesn't work for all dogs.

I would consult a trainer. Since she’s a puppy, you might be able to use techniques to curb the reasons she barks. My rescue doodle also barks good morning, when let outside, at the door, at the neighbor dogs, and when playing. We use an e-collar and it works. I would not use one on a puppy.

Hi,

It sounds like she is "demand barking" a habit my puppy picked up as well when staying with family while I was on a work trip. I was quickly able to curb this behavior with a bark collar. The one I purchased was on amazon for around $24, it does not shock. The first time the puppy barks it lets out an audible high pitches  beep, the second time a longer beep, and the third bark is a longer beep and a vibration. It continues in length of beep and length of vibration from there but it only took my puppy to get it to vibrate once for him to learn that he doesn't like it. The beep will immediately grab the puppy's attention because it is instant and they can associate it with the bark. He had also started crying in the middle of the night to go out after previously sleeping though the night, you will need to ignore this completely, don't shush/ look at them/ or take them out. Give it one or two nights and they will be back to sleeping through the night. Also, a note on the bark collar, I only had it on a few hours during the day, never at night in the crate, and now only put it on if he starts to get testy.

Good luck!!

Jen, what brand is your collar?  I’d like to check it out. I might prefer it to what I currently use.

It is DogRook, I purchased the "Upgrade 2018" one, it is super  easy to find on Amazon

Thanks
