I know it's really soon since Ava died, but there was a huge hole in my heart and my life that needed to be filled. And I believe that sometimes things are just meant to be, and this is one of them. Maggie came home Saturday, from the fabulous DRC. And I will never be able to thank everyone involved enough. She's a beautiful girl with such a sweet heart. I have a lot of work to do to teach her trust, and confidence, and love. But in the short time she's been here she's been such a sweetheart. Soon she will know that this is her home forever, and that the dogs in this house are princesses. She and Katie are getting along beautifully. I am so excited to share her life with you. Just wait, she's going to have a blog!!

Oh my Maggie is a beauty. What a lucky girl to have found a wonderful forever home. She will help heal your heart. So sweet!
She is a beauty! Congrats!
Hi Maggie! Congratulations to both of you, wishing you many happy years.
Maggie's first big present is a Rug Doctor portable spot cleaner. Eyeroll. My next big project is going to be pulling the carpet out of the house. I wanted to do it when I moved, but couldn't justify throwing away new carpet. This house has hardwoods that have been under the carpet for 70 years. I want to see them! But I cringe at the thought of moving everything out of the house and not being able to be home while they're refinished. We might have to muddle through the carpet for a little while yet.
Or... pull up carpet and live with the floors as they are for a while. My mother-in-law's house and my mom's homes were built in 1950 and 1921. Both have hardwood floors which show wear and tear but are lovely and with the original finishes.
They really might not look too bad. This house was built in 1950 and the original owners lived here until I bought it. I was told that they never had pets and they always had carpet. The first thing I did when I moved into my last house was pull up the carpet to get to the hardwoods, and it worked out pretty well, although I thought I was going to be pulling tack strips up forever. It's really not a bad thought!
Floor is probably perfect except for any accidents your sweeties have done. :-}
In theory the girls shouldn't have hurt it either. I looked into having the padding replaced when I bought the house to install waterproof padding, but it was already there. I hope it works!
Awesome! I didn't know there was such a thing.
I am yet to find out if it actually works. But that's what it's sold as. I haven't done anything yet. My little projects always turn into big projects, so I'm trying to wait until I'm really ready to take this on. In the meantime the portable rug doctor seems to be doing okay. Not fantastic, but okay.
Wonderful news....she's a beautiful girl.
She's just gorgeous, and so sweet. I can't wait until she's settled in and knows how loved she is. This morning we were in bed and I put my hand out and she came to me for petting. And she licked me! I am totally wrapped around her little paw.
