how big is your golden doodle? I am looking for a very large doodle as a companion for my 7lb poodle. All of the standard size are 50-60 pounds. There must be bigger. Anyone have an 80-90 pound doodle?

There are a few big guys on this site. Gavin runs in the high 70s and is very tall. Good luck in your search. I love the big dogs too.

My Vern weighs around 115 pounds. My daughter's dogs weigh around 30 pounds and really confuse Vern. He doesn't know how to play with such a small dog. I am just curious...what makes you want such a big dog for your very little dog?

I don't think size really matters all that much.  Our smallest dog (30 pounds) is the dominant dog and lets it be known.  Big dogs are great but may be subservient to smaller dogs.  They will work it out on their own.

We were just involved in rehoming two over 70 pound doodles. One went to a home with a twenty pound doodle and a cat. My daughter had an 8 pound dog along with her large lab. They get along beautifully but the lab is older and calm and the little dog is exceptionally savvy. I would be very cautious about a large puppy and a tiny dog.

I love big dogs, but I, too,  would be very cautious since you have such a small dog. We got our Standard Poodle, Indie, as a rehome - he was living in a home with 2 older Chihuahuas. The owner had always wanted a Standard Poodle, but as Indie grew up it was clear that he needed to play with bigger dogs. It became a safety issue when he knocked one of the Chi's over by accident and the Chi hit his head. And, Indie is only 50lbs! So, they made the gut wrenching decision of finding a home with larger dogs. There loss, but our gain as Indie is such a honey....
