Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi, Mini goldendoodle owners, how big is your doodle and what age is he/she at? Just trying to see if I really have a mini or if she is going to turn out being a standard. Lol! Look forward to hearing your responses.

Very strange....even excusing Blakeleigh as an outlier, you could say the other 2 dogs are within the range for a Mini Godlendoodle (45 pounds is big but not extremely so).  But that mom should have been breeding dogs closer to 15-20 pounds assuming the mother was a Mini weighing 25 pounds and an 8 pound Toy/Petite father.  And you did confirm the size at 4 pounds at about 7-8 weeks which is about right for a Toy or Mini doodle, smaller than a Standard.

Unless your breeder is sloppy or got her lineages mixed up, just seems like a weird set of genes mixing and producing totally unexpected sizes.

I thought it was weird also, but like I said I love Blakeleigh either way and I actually like her being bigger. My boyfriend and I have already started talking about when we build our house that we want to get a standard doodle that will get bigger than Blakeleigh.

How high is she at the shoulder ?  She may also just be "thick."  I've seen some bid Standard Goldendoodles that were close to 75-80 pounds.  Not sure how high at the shoulder, didn't measure.  I'd say close to 36" (Teddy is 14" !!).

"I have asked about the siblings. She said one is about 45lbs and the runt of the litter only got about 30. So they did stay smaller than Blakeleigh but one did get bigger than the 30lbs range."

Wow....seems like that particular litter (all litters ?) don't match up with the genetics.  A 25 pound mom and 8 pound dad shouldn't produce offspring of that size, one would think.

I have only met 1 other Toy Goldendoodle and he was 3 years old and 23 pounds.  Most of the Minis I have seen are 25-35 pounds....standards are 45-80 pounds.  Teddy is small for my breeder but not exceptionally so; she said most of her Toys are 15-20 pounds so Teddy is a few pounds below that lower range.

My elsie was 3.3 lbs at 8 weeks, about to weigh her for 12 weeks tomorrow!

Any idea from her breeder what she should max out about ?

That is small but she's a female and sometimes they run smaller.  Teddy may have been closer to 3 pounds when I first got him at 7 weeks; he was 3.5 lbs. a few days later.

I don’t know much, I got her as a rehoming not directly from a breeder.

12 weeks and 4.3 lbs:)

"12 weeks and 4.3 lbs"

Congrats !!  Teddy was 3.5 lbs. @ 8 weeks......5 lbs. @ 11 weeks.......7 lbs. @ 14 weeks.....10 pounds at 22 weeks......and 11 pounds at 5 1/2 months (25 weeks) or so.

He is a Toy Doodle so he is smaller than most other Toys as well as Minis.

Aww he’s so small! Thanks for those weight details, I am definitely curious about how big she will get but I am thinking maybe she is a toy not mini like your Teddy.

Could be, Elsie's Mom....but my friend has a Mini (well, he was TOLD it was a Mini !!  LOL) female and she is 12 pounds, same size basically as Teddy.

Remember, there's a variance among all 3 sizes and females run smaller so you can have overlap size-wise.

"My elsie was 3.3 lbs at 8 weeks, about to weigh her for 12 weeks tomorrow!"

She didn't gain much weight in 4 weeks, only 1 pound.  Teddy seemed to gain about 1/2 pound a week for a few months.
