Here’s a Shot of our new pup - Whiskey

Thanks for the add. We lost our 5 yo Labradoodle Buddy to Lymphoma in June and our 15 yo Rat Terrier as well in October. For the first time almost 16 years we had no dog. It felt strange to say the least. Our Labradoodle had been so great,  non-shedding, easy going, and just generally chill about everything that we decided to get another one. We ended up with an F1B Goldedoodle from some friends who  red for the first time

that is how we ended up with our now 12 week old Whiskey. What a change. He is not nearly as doodley as Buddy was, really looks like a golden, and he sheds a good bit already. He looks like he will dwarf  his 50 lb parents, 20.5 lbs at 11.5 weeks, we were hoping to be around 50lbs as well. He is a pure handful, wants to use everyone’s hand as a chew toy...

With all that said, we really do love him. Just has to come to term with all the differences and. The shedding was the big deal. 

Curious us if anyone has ever seen a doodle that looks like him? He has this straight wavy coat and almost a lions mane with a little side mustache.

Whiskey is the cutest name! He is adorable. I understand your strife with the shedding! Our Hamilton sheds quite a bit but I wouldn't trade that for anything. He is the sweetest! When he was your pup's age, he too wanted to use our hands as a chew toy. It will get better :) As far as his looks, he doesn't appear to have the furnishings around his face as most doodles do. However the rest of him appears quite fluffy!  Our guy doesn't have the furnishings, I get asked if he's pure golden or Irish setter all the time. It's crazy how different they can look with the same parents- below is Hamilton and his litter mate (yes really)

He is very fluffy everywhere except his face. He has a little bit on the side of the muzzle and it seems to be thickening between the eyes. Very curious how he ends up.

Cannot believe those two dogs are from the same litter. It really is eyeopening. Great looking dogs though!

Hard to believe those 2 are litter mates. They are both cute though. Hamilton looks like a happy dog.

There is a group on DK called Where's the poodle in my doodle? and another called From Pup to Adult. You can get a good idea of the variety of doodle looks. Your Whiskey is as cute as can be. It is very hard when you compare the adult dog you have loved so dearly to a wild and crazy pup. Our memories of the puppy stage can fade pretty significantly and then the new puppy can seem like the worst ever. I hope with lots of consistent training your little "beast" will become your "best buddy"!

I have a mini goldendoodle, she is almost 4 years old and weighs less than Whiskey at 11.5 weeks. The first 2 months after we brought her home she used me as a chew toy. Luckily those days didn't last long, although at the time it seemed like forever. She is hardly the same dog now. Love Wiskey's collar, so appropriate. Our very first family dog was a miniature schnauzer, a small little guy. After his death, our family was devastated, so we went to our local shelter to adopt another small non shedding dog. We came home with a 75lb Golden Retriever, who shed like crazy. He was the best dog, so sweet. Was gentle with the small kids and loved my daughters cat.

Here he is now at 16 weeks. Looks like his face is getting some more fur but man he looks pretty scraggly. Maybe these are his teenage awkward years? Anyone seen a coat like this develop?

It does look to me like he does have furnishings. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how shaggy he gets. He is going to look very doodle-y; however, he is going to shed.
