Hi, Zeus had his spleen removed last week. The doctor found a 6 cm mass in the spleen while checking an intra abdominal lipoma. Both were removed and sent for biopsy. Anyone deal with recovery after this type of surgery? Thanks

Yes, I can tell you what we used after Wally's spleenectomy in November.  It's called a surgical recovery suit for dogs by Suitical and here's a link to their website:  https://www.suitical.com/products/recovery-suit/  It worked wonders in keeping him from licking the incision and he seemed to be very comfortable wearing it. I bought two, so that when one was being washed he could be wearing the other one.

My husband and I put a sofabed mattress on the floor on the first level of our house, and we all slept downstairs until Wally recovered and was able to go up and down the staircase safely.

I'm sorry that Zeus had to go through the surgery and that you are now in that terrible phase of waiting for results. Wally's tumor turned out to be benign and I am hoping for the same result for you and Zeus.

Thanks for your reply. He is doing better each day and I am hoping for good test results

The waiting was the hardest part -- at least for us. Although Wally might have said that the surgery was the toughest part. I'm sending positive thoughts your way for a good outcome.

Thanks!
