Never seen a coat like this before. Have you?

Here is a pic of Whiskey, our 16 week old F1B Goldendoodle. We purchased from friends who bred their F1. His brothers are very doodle-like but not our boy.  He was very wavy at 5 weeks when we chose him. The photos I am attaching are 8, 14, and 16 weeks. 

He looks like his face is getting more and more fur but overall he is pretty scraggly. 

Anyone seen a coat like this? I am trying to get any input on how he will end up.

She is an F1 goldendoodle

Does Whiskey shed? Islay (named after the Scottish island where they make my husband's favorite whiskey) is our F1b. Mom is F1 Irishdoodle and Dad is a standard red Moyen poodle. She was slightly wavy when we got her. She has gotten more and more curly and has pretty much a poodle coat now. Totally non-shedding. We get her groomed every couple of months. Here she is around 8 weeks, 5 months, and now.

He is a total shedder. I keep hoping, once he curls up some it will reduce, but I know it isn’t very likely.  His hair is just very all over the place right now. Sweet dog living through some seriously bad hair days.

Was he bred back to a golden retriever?

Nope. Mom is an F1 and Dad is a purebread poodle.
