Well, combined with your photo & comment about how much hair you are getting in the brush, it's possible that she is just a shedder. Hard to know for sure until she's older.

The thing is, she doesn't shed on our clothing or carpet ... only loses her super fluffy downy puppy fur when I brush and kind of looks like her adult coat is already starting to come in

Thanks for your comment Karen... I will just have to wait and see

I think each dog is different... Jack did that as a puppy around that age and never really has shed again.

Thanks for your comment... it gives me some hope! Lol I know that doodles can shed a lot or not at all just hoping she ends up being very light shedder

Your doodle looks a lot like mine.  Our baby is only 4 mos.  I'm still waiting to see hair in the brush.

They do look alike!

I'm thinking that mine is going to be a shedder but like other comments state you just don't know for sure until your doodle is all grown with adult coat all in

Love my Kona girl no matter what! She is so smart and silly and loves to snuggle up to anyone

Cocoa doesn’t shed but when I brush her I get tons of soft hair- this soft fur is down near her skin. I line brush her with a Les Pooch to get it all out. It’s important to get this fur brushed out, otherwise it will mat.

Leslie, did Cocoa start loosing this soft fur as a Puppy?

She is super cute, by the way!

Also, I was wondering what Les Pooch brush do you have?

Yes, Cocoa started losing her soft fur at at around 15 weeks too. I use the green Les Pooch brush- you can find it here:

One thing i learned is that is that the soft fur mats very easily.  I can’t stress enough the importance of line brushing- otherwise there will be tons of hidden mats near the skin that are very difficult to remove. As recommended by Nancy, take a look on YouTube to find out how.

In Cocoa’s case, she never outgrew this soft fur.  The good news is she doesn’t shed at all.  The bad news is that her fur is very high-maintenance and mats very easily.  We don’t let her fur grow too long very often because if we do it takes at least 1 1/2 hours to brush her out each week.  When it is long it is gorgeous and incredibly soft, though!

Your puppy is absolutely adorable!

I feel like my Ned sheds - but only into his own coat.  This can cause lots of matting.  His coat is totally different from your puppy's but I wanted to share so you get a variety of answers.  I also have one doodle who is a huge shedder and one who doesn't shed  at all and I get very little hair in the brush.

Your puppy is so adorable.  That is my favorite doodle look.

Thank you for sharing Nancy... is there a certain brush/comb or technique you use on Neds coat?

Did any of your cute doodles shed as a Puppy? Just curious ;)
