DK wont let me search for anything so here I am making a new discussion.
Just curious what YOU do when your dog throws up. Do you withhold food, or water, or both? Do you give your pup something to sooth his/her stomach. If so what? Do you call the vet immediately? If not, how long do you wait (or how many times do they have to vomit before you call)? Does it depend on what the throw up looks like (ie digested or whole kibble). What do you do if its accompanied by loose stool?

We refuse the metronidazole and every time the vet techs look at us like we are crazy lol. I just keep standing my ground with that.
The last time he had loose stool was in January. We had him on VSL #3 probiotic up until about a month an a half a go. We ran out and I decided to switch him to Proviable DC since he hadnt had an issue in so long. Well, early last week we ran out of Proviable. I didnt order more thinking he was doing just fine and probably didnt need that.
He is still eating Wellness Simple LID. We used to rotate the flavor, however since he was last sick (January) we have kept him on turkey and potato. He eats anywhere from 1 1/2 - 2 cups a day with boiled chicken on top.
The only treats they get are Spot Farms. A few weeks ago we bought turkey meatballs with cranberries, before that he was getting Spot Farms chicken apple sausage.
We havent been letting them out in our back yard due to poor grass growth/lots of dirt patches. We also had a blow up pool back there that we didnt want them to get into. We recently drained the pool so we could start letting them run around back there. The first time we let them out there was on Saturday (loose stool started Monday morning). Could this be a cause? Im not sure. Phin is fine (for the moment and i pray to god he continues to be so). It is very possible he could have gotten into something. I was out of town all weekend for fathers day. My boyfriend was here with them and while he was working his sister let them out for us. Very possible he got something outside or while she was over visiting. Not many people in our lives understand that he has a very sensitive tummy and we only can give him certain foods lol.
We just got a chewy order in the mail today so which included a new pack of proviable which i will start him on tonight.
I will also note, that for the past 2 days his first stools of the day are seemingly pretty normal / firm. Its every other one after that that looks like the photo above.
I got to thinking this morning as I walked down stairs and noticed my boyfriend left some pizza on the counter from last night when he got home from work. Yeti has gotten into a few things between the last time he was sick (January) and now and has not even so much as had soft poop let alone runny poop and vomiting. I dont know why but I have a serious gut feeling that he is getting sick from something in our back yard. I always go out there with them when we do, but I cant say the same for my boyfriend (Im not usually home when hes letting them out) or anyone who comes over to help us out when were not home.
Cocoa ended up getting very ill twice when she was a puppy from ingesting something. Our vet suggested keeping her on a leash even when we’re in the backyard. We did this for quite a while and it prevented more incidents. When we took her camping with us we used a doggy face guard so she couldn’t eat things when we were out hiking.
We let her off leash now that she’s older and less likely to eat things, but every so often she gobbles something up quickly when we’re out for walks. Some dogs are just like that...
Yep I'm afraid both of our guys are gobblers. We typically take them outside to go potty in the front yard so they are always leashed up and we just do our business and go back inside. We usually take them to my parents to let them run around (a little bigger of a back yard and its in better shape than ours) and they come home fine every time. I cant put my finger on what it is,but I swear there is something in our yard making them sick.
