Down from standing

Does anyone have any good tips on training a down from a standing position? I just realized we always do down from sit and I think we are going to need just a straight down. But it's not working yet. 

Also, anyone have any good forums for dog obedience/rally showing? I really think we have the training bug, but I really have no idea what I'm doing. I think this is a hobby I could stick with for more than 5 minutes.

So I'm out in the yard with Jasper this a.m. and all of a sudden it dawns on me. Katharine Hepburn was never in A Star Is Born. LOL

Believe it or not, I don't think I even knew that was a movie when I named Katie! It was more like she's going to be a star. It would have been perfect if Katharine Hepburn had been in that movie though! Or I should have named Katie Barbara instead.

A Star is Born is on Netflix right now. And it's on my ever growing list of things I want to get around to watching someday.

There have been several remakes of A Star Is Born. The original was in 1937.

The most famous and acclaimed one was in 1954 and starred Judy Garland. 

The 1976 version is the one you're thinking of, with Barbra (spelling again, lol) Streisand.

But most of us of a certain age associate Judy Garland with the role, not Babs. 

And now of course, there is another remake coming out starring Lady Gaga.

I did not know that! I guess they've been remaking movies for all time. I'm always a little insulted when they take a perfect movie and remake it - usually poorly. But maybe they're running out of ideas too! I haven't seen a really good movie in ages.

If you've never seen any of the ASIB movies, I'd wait for the Lady Gaga-Bradley Cooper version, which should be out soon. I was very disappointed in the Barbra Streisand version; it's nowhere near as good as the Judy Garland film. I'm hoping the new one will be.

Gaga has that same tremulous vulnerability as Garland, which the heroine of this story really needs. Babs, as great a singer as she is, wasn't right in the role.
