I've been giving my girls the Yummy Chummies Fish Oil the past several months but I noticed recently when I tried to reorder that everywhere seems to be either out of stock or what is available seems way over priced? Can anyone recommend another fish oils and/or the evening primrose (brand specific).
Trying to help ease the compulsive itching/chewing.

Your best bet on evening primrose oil is Puritan's Pride; very inexpensive and the quality is good.
There was a brand of Icelandic fish oil that my vet recommended for JD, but I don't remember the name. It was pretty pricey.
I think recommendations for that are going to depend on whether you want the pump type that you can spray on the food, or a soft gel that needs to be given as a pill, or if you are looking for a chewable. I would be VERY careful with the chewables, as they have other stuff added,
Thanks Karen right now we use the pump type oil and pour it over their food. We recycled an old wine bottle and added a liquid pour spout for easy no mess application. Pills I'm concerned they would eat around since they only get kibble plus Josie loves the taste.
They wouldn't eat around the pills, because you would put them down their throats. Just like you are going to do with the EPO softgels. They're all given like medication. Although I do know some dogs who will eat the softgels if they're placed in the bowl with any kind of wet food.
Believe it or not, Haley eats his daily EPO out of his food bowl along with his kibble. (All other pills I stick way down his throat and give him a yummy treat chaser.)
JD ate the EPO capsule from his food bowl, too, but part of his meal was homemade chicken and sweet potatoes, and I hid it in that. :)
No tricks here. I just put it on his kibble and he eats it. lol
On the EPO how much do you give? I was on it for menopause and it worked great, odd it works for itches too? Sassy is around 60# and Josie I think 40#?
As long as you're also using the fish oil, I'd give them each one 500 mg softgel per day.
Evening primrose oil is a very rich source of GLA, which is an anti-inflammatory. That's why it helps with itching from allergies.
Karen any feedback as to how this fish oil stacks up? This one seems to have the higher end of Omega 3-6 and EPA and DHA?

Okay, so just for clarity, there's NO Omega 6 in fish oil, lol. Fish oil is 100% Omega 3 fatty acids, specifically the Omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, and that's why we give it. That's the only kind of EFA (essential fatty acids) that are beneficial to dogs, along with GLA, which we discussed above.
I have no idea really which fish oil products are better than others; I always just went with recommendations from JD's vet and his specialists. This one sounds good, and it seems fine to me. Chewy also carries it.
Thanks, see that's why I ask, this is totally foreign to me and unfortunately our vet and her specialists really don't have any recommendations? We'll give this a try and see if it helps if not we'll add or switch to the EPO. Thanks again.
Ours eat the capsule as a treat or with their kibble - Clancy, usually and Charlie always with EPO or Proviable capsules. Ned always eats around them. At one point we punctured the capsule and squeezed the oil onto the kibble - that is sort of time consuming when it's times 3. For medicinal purposes we have luck using peanut butter.
We order our EPO from Puritan's Pride IF it isn't really hot. We got an order once that was pretty much a solid ball of melted EPO. The company was extremely responsive and replaced our order, but nowadays we pay attention to the weather before ordering.
