Our 11-month pup chewed his new Majestic bagel dog bed while we were out of town this week. Our house/dog sitter thinks he pawed through it during the day. He’s not destructive, although he does chew through plush toys so he doesn’t get those anymore. The bed was plush, but he was fine with it while we were home the last couple weeks. I suspect he wasn’t getting enough exercise, but my question is should we eliminate a dog bed altogether for a while or try it again? I know there are dog beds for chewers. Someone recommended K9 Ballistics. These beds are expensive so I don’t want to waste money again. Thanks so much.

We have one of these as well, our brand is Coolaroo but it looks identical to this one.  Both of my girls nap on it and my Polly uses it as an interactive toy...

Because Polly uses it as a toy we generally have to replace the cover on it about every year to year and a half (you can see it has different colors in the videos above), costs about $12 from Amazon.

We have the Coolaroo bed (just like this) for Vern. Fudge hates it, but Vern uses it to dig on. He will dig and roll on this bed and we have replaced the cover many times, but doesn't actually sleep on it. The covers are cheap enough and it is sure better than having him dig on my carpet or floors. I have various beds all throughout our house and they both take turns on all of them. I keep a bed sheet cover on them and a blanket and Vern will dig around until he gets it how he likes it.

I’m trying this one for my dog as he gets hot easily, but lies to lay around on the couch and other furniture

My dogs have dog beds but they most often sleep on the floor or a rug or on our bed.  I don't think it is mandatory to have a special bed for your dog.  He won't be deprived.

We bought Luna a lovely dog bed when she was a puppy... she preferred the floor, the bed, the couch... anything but that bed lol.

When we're not home Riley just has a big bath towel to sleep on.  It's hard for her to chew to pieces and there's no stuffing for her to eat.. so we figure safer for her than a "real" bed.  I'd rather she be in a less luxurious situation but safe. :)

We had bought a big bed for her but she kept peeing on it when we brought her home... tried our best to deodorize it but not sure if we were successful.  In any case she is not getting that bed back until she's more trustworthy... and likely not while home alone for at least a year :p

While we are home Riley sleeps on the floor or a blanket.
