So I just went to my local go to for pet food and got the worst news ever. Our high end food chain Rens is no longer going to be carrying Fromm. None of it. What am I going to do?! It took me forever to find (approved!!) food that he does well on. Now I’m most likely going to have to move him because it’s not sold anywhere else. Petsmart and PetValu don’t sell it. He’s eating Fromm Weight Management and is doing so well on it. He tried Acana weight but that’s mainly chicken which caused his ears to flair up. If I can’t find another Fromm honey hole what brand should I go towards? I should mention I’m in Canada.
Side note. Is something going on with Fromm?? it’s blowing my mind that Rens is discontinuing it

I think that Fromm is just super picky about their retailers. That's why they stopped selling food through Chewy when Petsmart bought them out. I really respect that. I don't know if that's the case here, but I haven't heard of anything going on with Fromm. I just picked some up the other day and my store was well stocked. So stocked that they had to add another aisle of Fromm.

Fromm has a store locator, have you tried that?

Petflow is a company that carries Fromm and does delivery, I'm not sure if they deliver to Canada though. It's such a bummer when you really like something and then it vanishes.

In addition to checking Petflow, I'd call Fromm and ask them if they can give you the names of any retailers within a reasonable distance of your home. Sometimes there are little farm & feed stores (even bird feeding stores) near you that you don;t even know exist, that carry some of the better pet foods. Sometimes doggy daycare/boarding places do, too.

I did find this list of Ontario towns on the Fromm website:

Huh, I wonder if Rens is getting too big and commercial for them to want to sell through them anymore??  Is there a Global Pet Foods near you?  They sell Fromm.

I'm in Ontario and only the small, boutique pet shops (ie. non-chain) stores in my city have it.

Luckily the closest pet store to us has Fromm, Acana/Orijen and a few other great food brands.

Do you have any small non-chain pet stores in town you could check out?  They often don't have websites so they are harder to find but you can call around a bit so you don't have to physically go there and check.

Just an update on this one. First thanks everyone for your help. I found a retailer that is willing to order in Spikes Fromm formula for us (even though they don’t carry it) whenever we need it which is great. I thought life was good. The past two bags have left Spike super hungry and gassy all the time and his ears are way more waxy and itchy than normal.  Guess what? They changed the formula. Fromm changed their weight management formula with no warning on the bag. It used to be lamb/duck based. Now it’s chicken and turkey. The two things I know Spike doesn’t do well on. So back to square one. Leaning towards petcurean and open farm. Just trying to decide on formulas. :-(

Wow, I'm very surprised that Fromm would do that.
They do make a fish based weight management formula in their Gold line:

Me too! I can’t believe Fromm is behaving like this. Making it super hard to find with not a lot of warning. I managed to track it down and boom. They changed it with no warning. They shouldn’t be able to do that!! It’s messing with dogs health! He was doing so well nice and trim. Couldn’t figure out why the tummy troubles, ear issues, constant hunger and weight returned. Now I know.
Thanks for letting me know about the other blend. I haven’t see that line up here before. Sadly I can’t feed him a fished based formula. I’m highly allergic. I can’t touch it and if I got my usual welcome home kisses I’d break out. This is rough. Chicken/turkey is him. Fish is me. Why did you do this Fromm?! Why!! :-(

It's going to be very tough to find a weight management formula that doesn't contain any fish, chicken or turkey. :(
Are you certain about the turkey? Allergies are very specific to a particular protein molecule, and a molecule of chicken is very different from a molecule of turkey. many people whose dogs are sensitive or allergic to chicken assume that the same would be true of turkey, but in fact it's not; lots of dogs who can't tolerate chicken do just fine with other kinds of poultry, including turkey.

I’m not certain about turkey at all. Chicken yes. It just seems that chicken and turkey go hand in hand in food. I’m also not certain that he needs weight control. Do I need to watch his weight. Oh yes indeed. He can pack it on quickly if left unchecked. Gone are the days at the Tim Hortons drive through. Well we go. But he gets a green bean. Before Fromm we had him on Acana and his weight soared after his neuter. Even on their weight food (chicken based). I’m avoiding anything Acana for sure. You know why there... but I’m suck. He won’t be able to stay on Fromm Weight. So I spend hours here and in the pet store reading labels. Then coming here and reading reviews. The things we do for love. But ill be darned if I lose another dog to bad food like I lost my Ben. It’s worth the effort.

Well, you could always go with a higher calorie formula and substitute canned green beans for a small portion of it to get the calories down.
