Sigh . . . Another day with a scheming puppy!  Wrangler is not I love with his crate. I was feeling in a compassionate mood so I set up a playpen that my friend loaned me. It’s a beautiful expandable playpen that’s 30” high and, the way I configured it, about 3 times the size of his crate. It has ample room for a nice bed and area for food and water. I got home from the store and was so pleased that when I walked in Wrangler finally was not screaming and crying to get out. On closer observation, he was not screaming to get out because he was not in the playpen. Wrangler had somehow climbed out of the playpen and opened the door to my bedroom – probably only took a little push – and I found him taking his afternoon nap on my sheepskin rug!!! So, the little guy just traded in his playpen for his crate with a lid!

It’s only just begun!

So...Apollo loathes the crate. Like, drools all over from anxiety loathes the crate. We keep him confined to the kitchen/family room while we're out. So far, so good. Mind you, he’s almost nine months old, but everyone is happier with him out of the crate.

Here he is tonight, he brought me a present from the backyard.

Awww . . . What a Sweetie! I just bought a baby gate that I’m going to put in my master bathroom and I thought that would maybe soothe Wrangler a little bit more than the crate . . . Part of me doubts it!

Christi, Apollo has good taste - for a dog.....

HAHAHAHAHA.  He's a smart little guy.

I am laughing SO hard at this because I can SO relate! My Lincoln does not love his crate at all. When I first got him, he screamed all night long (literally) for about 10 days. I cried because I thought it would never get better. Now thankfully he is fine at night and when he is home by himself- however, when you put him in to try and get something done for 10 minutes? He is not having in. We tried a puppy play pen and returned it after one day because he cried and barked the exact same way. I knew it just would never work. He probably would have figured out how to be an escape artists just like wrangler. Too funny! He is such a cutie.

Oh man he's such a cutie!!! Our buddy didn't like the crate either and cried/barked, but since both my husband and I work full-time we weren't comfortable having him anywhere else for safety reasons - he was a big chewer and got into EVERYTHING. He adapted to the crate eventually - he got multiple visits a day with a dog walker, so he was never in the crate very long in the beginning, but we just felt it was safer than letting him stay somewhere he could find things to chew/eat. It was really hard in the beginning, though - I always felt terrible leaving him, but he slept in the crate at night too, so i think that helped him adjust.
