Jack's internal medicine specialist said a biologic dose was 1 mg for every ten lbs of body weight. Below that, you don't as much concern about liver damage. 1 mg per lb sounds crazy to me. When JD was having the kind of allergy flare where he is so miserable he is trying to chew his own paw off and rub all the fur off his face, he didn't get anything like that amount.
And a swollen eye is nowhere near a full-blown allergy flare. It may not even be related to allergies.

One kilogram = 2.2 lbs. I had to look that up. :)
Pediatrics does everything in kilos. I'm super proficient at multiplying and dividing by 2.2.
And I found this:
To give you an idea of prednisone dosage, my labradoodle weighed 75 lbs and took one 5 mg tablet every other day. Granted, that was a maintenance dosage, but 5 mg is a LOT of prednisone for an 11 lb dog!!! The biologic dose would be 1.1 mg per day.
The largest dose my big guy was ever given was 20 mg /day, and that was only for a few days after the diagnosis of a serious immune disease. Never that much for allergies.
Find another vet.
Emergency vets are the worst. The bottom of the barrel. Now this all makes sense to me.
