Hi there,

I need some advise.  Koda will be 6 months old next week and she is going for her first professional groom.  Should we get her hair cut short?

sorry guys, I still can't master getting my photos to line up correctly.

If she's not matted, it's your choice to keep her longer or go shorter. Shorter makes for easier brushing & combing, especially through coat changes, and is also more convenient if she spends time swimming. However, no matter what anyone tells you, shorter cuts do not keep them cooler, and in fact, going too short, i.e. shaving them, can have the opposite effect, because their coats help insulate them against both heat and cold.

Thanks for the reply.  I actually like her hair .  I am  definitely not a fan of the shaved down look. Maybe short though. When will her coat start changing ? I combed her over the weekend and only found a small mat which I detangled without issue.   I notice her coloring is changing  She is getting lighter as expected.

Funny you should mention this now. Willow is at the groomer right this second for her first haircut. 1” is the longest this groomer does and that’s the length I’m going with. Her hair has been easy to brush and comb so far. In fact, the groomer was pleased with her coat. That made me so happy, we’ve worked hard at it! I’m still hoping she’s going to be my long shaggy girl. But I think she might be a different color when she comes home. The hair closest to her skin is really blonde. I’m hoping that my internet decides to work later this afternoon so everyone can see!

I can't wait to see Willow's pictures.  Koda is actually my daughter's pup but she is with me for the Summer while my daughter moves. I've been a bad grandma and have Koda on our routine.  My daughter will have to get Koda re-adjusted once they get settled in. But at least she has free puppy care to include free grooming services, medications, treats and food all at zero cost to her.

I think they did a really good job. She looks so grown up. I love how long her legs look. I don't know why the pictures are sideways, but if you click on them I think they will open up the right direction.

Pictures have been doing this to me too, driving me bonkers!  Did you post these from a mobile device?  I think that's what's doing it.. my tablet auto rotates things correctly but when they upload they are in the "original "orientation (sideways or upside down).

She looks so great and you're right, so grown up!

I emailed them from my phone to my laptop (my iCloud is soooo full!) and uploaded them from my laptop to doodle kisses. The file is oriented the correct way on the computer, but when I upload it it rotates 90 degrees. I'm not sure why. I've never had much luck using doodle kisses on my phone - like not at all. I saw the email today that we're going to be moving to a new platform and it's going to be mobile friendly. I'm excited. I think more people will participate if they can do it from their phone. I'm a dinosaur, still loving my laptop. I can just type so much faster with a real physical keyboard than I can with my thumbs.

Thanks, I know I'm probably a little biased, but I think she's just adorable. And as sweet as they come. She finally hit 45 pounds - 45.6 this morning according to the bathroom scale. She's a good size, but I still wish we could make her a tiny bit taller. I feel like she's still going to gain some weight, but I'm not sure if this is her forever height.

I am a huge dinosaur and only do dk from my phone in dire circumstances.....  I need the larger screen and a keyboard, but most definitely a mouse.  I can't do anything without a mouse - a true dinosaur.  Right click, hold and drag.....

I love a good trackpad. It's hard to mouse in my bed. Wait, I'm not sure that sounds right. You know what I mean!

Yes, I do. :-)
