Serious training begins for Wrangler

Wrangler completed basic puppy class a couple of months go. He’s a very big puppy (55 pounds at 6 months) and it’s time to get serious about training. Nobody like jumping dogs, etc. — especially super-sized jumping dogs. I hired a private trainer who will work with us for a couple of months. Anxious to get started. My eventual goal is CGC certification but many of you re doing some interesting things so who knows where Wrangler’s training will eventually go!

Truffle (42 lbs; 17 months) has been trained to not jump; she sits, goes down but doesn't stay. (My fault, not hers)

I will perhaps gain some inspiration from you.

Truffle sounds like a great size; would love to see her photo too! Wrangler, was suppose to be smaller that he will be. His Mom is 45 pounds; who knew?? All the ‘calculate adult weight’ charts put him at 70-75 pounds as an adult. Sheesh!!

Riley was about that size at 6 months, she is roughly 70 pounds now at a year old, to give you a possible size estimate for Wrangler.  We think she will top out around 75-80 pounds after filling out.  Her parents were about 60-70 lbs, so we figured she'd be 60-80.

Great job on starting the serious training :)  We had a (human) baby when Riley turned 6 months so we have not been as strict with training as I would like but it is a work in progress and she is settling down nicely.

Awwww! Two babies! 

Good to know a bit of settling is in the stars! Actually, Wrangler has a psycho hour in the morning and then he generally sleeps all day. About 4 or so he wakes up for his evening psycho hour(s)!

Truffle began as a dark chocolate puppy and remained so until close to 12 months (born March 2018).

Around 12 months she began showing signs of becoming a Lavender!!! I am so excited, but hubby wanted dark chocolate, so I've told him we'll get hair coloring for her! {just kidding}. She is after all just taking after her human mom. I am 65 & began going silvery at age 19 & have never colored my hair. 

The first 2 pics are her still chocolately brown. The 3rd one was taken after March 2019. Hard to tell her size, but the silvery hair definitely shows. The pic is not capturing light reflecting off of dark fur ... it is her silvery-ness.

She’s beautiful and she has held her chocolate much better than Wrangler has—at least in this photo. In the 4 months he’s been with me, he has faded bunches! I have a breeder friend that thinks Wrangler will fade to a light silver beige color. It will be interesting to see what happens when he blows his puppy coat! 

As far as the photo sizing goes, I had the same problem. When you post the photos, you will have a chance to say the width you want. I Putin 300 px and it worked fine.
