Suggestions needed for how to get Otto to poop on the sidewalk -- Attn. city dog-owners

Hi all. We're really doing very well with the housetraining, but Otto (10 weeks) has decided to make my little tiny backyard his toilet area. I'm trying to figure out how to get him to poop out on the sidewalk (during a walk) like every other Hoboken dog does. I have tried to take him out for a walk when I know he needs to go, and he'll pee on the sidewalk during the 30 minute or so walk, but he won't poop. Then, because I don't want any poops in the house, I go straight in from the walk to the backyard, and he'll poop almost immediately in one of my flower beds. Now in the long term, I don't want my dog using my tiny backyard as his pooping ground. How do I encourage pooping on the sidewalk? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any tips you may have to offer.

Also, another pooping related question -- Is it normal for a puppy to get annoyed with you picking up their poop? Is the crunchy noise of the poop bag, or does Otto not want me to pick it up?

Have you thot about making a small area in your backyard a place for him to potty? Like putting some pea rock or tiles down in a corner for him and train him to just use that area? That might help as far as not ruining your flower gardens. It might be nice to have a place at home for him to use on those days that the weather isn't very nice or you aren't feeling well...
The only thing I can think of is time his walk for when he normally has to go and when you have extra time and keep walking, keep walking, keep walking until he has no choice but to squat because he can't hold it any longer. Then praise him to high heavens and give him a nice chunk of cheese or some other amazing-to-him treat!
Well if you can't get him to change his ways, remember, it could be worse. He could be a squatter like my boys, and ruin the lawn by peeing on it. And the poo is a good fertilizer. You could have the best garden you have ever had!
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'm going to try taking some treats with me and really praising him if I get him to go out front on the sidewalk. I know I should be thankful that he's not pooping in the house......
Good morning all! We have had success!! I don't know how it will go when there isn't snow on the ground, but so far I've gotten Otto to poop outside for the last three outings. It's been in the same spot -- around the corner from my home on a snowy spot in front of some garages. I've praised and praised, and given good treats, so all of your advice has worked. Thanks again. I think my backyard may be saved!
