Hi I took Bonnie to the vet last week as found a lump on the top of her right leg and it was getting larger. The vet said it was probably nothing to worry about as she is only a year old but took some sample cells from it just to be sure. The results have come back and whilst most of the cells were ok they have found a couple which they are not happy with. They want her to go in straight away to have the lump removed and sent off for further analysis. She is booked in for Monday and it will take 10 days to get the results back. I am really worried and just wondered if anyone else has experieinced this.
Lynne, I have had dogs with fatty tumors that had to be removed, there were never any problems afterwards. I will be thinking about Bonnie & hoping this will turn out to be nothing. Please keep us posted on the results. Hugs to you & Bonnie.
Our Shep X "Maddy" has these all over her.(they come and go) We had quite a few of them tested and then stopped as they all came back as just fatty lumps. The only one we actually ever had removed was one on her tail and that was simply because she was licking it and causing it to get inflamed.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for Bonnie and hope for the same results Maddy got/gets. :)
Hi Karen and Carole, Thanks for replying so quickly, I really appreciate your support. I lost my last dog to cancer and couldn't bear to think there was any chance we could lose Bonnie so young. I will keep my fingers crossed and update you when I have news.
Hi Guys Just to let you know that Bonnies results came back yesterday and she is fine!! the lump is benign. She is recovering really well though trying to lick her stitches so we are being really careful with her and she wears a plastic hood thing at night. I am sooo relieved and thanks again for your support Lynne and Bonnie x
