We've only have our puppy for nine days, but we let her sleep for about 2 hours and the let her play for about 30-60 minutes depending on her energy level. At night we get up with her about 2 times to let her out and then put her right back in her kennel. She whines some in her kennel, but usually goes right to sleep. That is our planned routine, but we already deviate some!
we play with Willson alot he got up at 4:30 this am would not go back in the kennel oh well
we went out side met another goldendoodle mom and 2yr old it was great
It's very normal for a puppy to sleep 14-18 hours out of a 24 hour day. Especially at this young of an age. I wouldn't worry about it. I always was thrilled when mine was asleep because it meant I could get things done! =) Because you know if puppy is awake and playing your eyes must be GLUED to the puppy to keep it from getting into trouble: going potty in the house, chewing on inappropriate things, etc...
I really never thought about it. Although we got Paddington at 14 weeks, so he wasn't a "puppy puppy"...but we just let him sleep when he wants and play when he wants. He sleeps all day really and is awake from like 5-9 or so and then goes down off and on until 11:30, then he sleeps in his crate until 7:00ish or 7:30. I wouldn't worry about it too much, in some cases I think the pup will adapt to your schedule and if he needs "harder" play time because he's more active, provide that for him. Hope that makes sense.
Yea it makes sense we went to the park, I carried him part way with him being so young I didn't want to over tire him, then we came home and I put him in the little kiddie pool seemed to like it alot came in the house to play now nap time.

I just worry way to much, I know he'll wake up an want to play again thanks

I just love this doodlekisses
Since he's so young a bigger concern about going to the park is not tiring him out but him picking up Parvo or another disease that can be very harmful. Most vets recommend that puppies are NOT taken to public places before they are done with their vaccines unless you carry them the whole way. Sidewalks might be okay...but a lot of dogs pee and poop in parks. Don't want to worry you, but I would ask your vet how common Parvo is in your area. If it's quite UNcommon then maybe you can be more liberal...but if your area has had any cases recently...I'd keep him away from parks until his vaccines are done.
Okay thanks i will keep in mind Willson and I go Tues to the vet and I will ask him, I didn't even think about that.
We've been keeping Wrigley in the back yard only ~ I'd LOVE to take her for walks and to the parks right now (& the girls would love it too), but I'm so afraid of Parvo. So even though we're feeling a bit restricted, I figure we can wait. Her vet appt is August 6th and she'll receive her 2nd round then. We'll then have to wait for one more round, right?
I think so...although. I took Paddington on walks, just not to the park after his second set....I think. He was 14 weeks. Whatever that is. Now the doc has said whatever I want, he's 18 weeks now.
Thank you that really helps , I go back to work 8/26/08 so I was trying somewhat the same schedule, and yesterday Willson slept longer and didn't seem very cranky he is sleeping now, we put him in the kennel when we left for awhile, came home 2hrs later he seemed fine, we then ate, played came in around 1:00, and I was able to tell he was getting tired because he was laying down and his energy level was low, he napped, on the kitchen floor , I picked him up put him in kennel he came out again so we just let him nap on the kitchen floor while we were baking, he just wants to be part of the family,
