Grooming

When we were at the beach Sunday for a DoodleRomp, I noticed that the GD had been groomed pretty short for the summer. Is the same done for the CLD? Our last dog was a Bearded Collie. We just had an "airstrip" shaved half way up her belly to keep her cool.
I know it is now fall, but just want to know if I should be loking for a groomer. RIght now, I bathe her, clip where necessary and I give her a pedicure with a "Peticure".

We have been in Florida on a working/vacation for several weeks now. I couldn't stand they way Samantha's coat looked - ratty. So one night I decided I couldn't take it any more and took out a pair of scissors and started snipping away. Three hours later I was done. She got the puppy cut I wanted and we (Samantha, DH & I) just love it.
Her coat is basically a straight coat with some waves. We are very lucky she does not matt or even knot. These are not the best pictures but I wanted to share my doodle-work

We did it! Trimmed Hondo down real short. He was quite hairy and I had been thinking about clipping his blond-ended hair for weaving. Then I had them out for a walk and he surprised a man jogging with his chihuahua. I think he though Hondo was some kind of wild animal. So the next day I clipped off his long hair, bathed him, and shaved his face (nose to ears) and his body. He looks quite handsome if I do say so myself.
