Hi Everyone, I thought it would be interesting to show the various coat changes in our F1 Doodles. State the type of Doodle, the age and add the pics. I think it would be fun so see all the differences.
Sadie's coat is getting longer, she just turned 6 mos old. She seems to love the winter snow and cold so far. She asks to go out just to play and rarely wants back in before I tell her it's time to come in. We'll see once we hit zero and below .. lol
We adopted ari when he was 10 months old... when we first got him he looked more like a Labrador than a Labradoodle. His fur was not too long and looked more like a lab coat. His fur was also all white.
Over the last 8 months, his fur has changed a lot! It has gotten so much longer/shaggier, wavier, and has gone from being mosly white to a more creamy / yellow color (especially around the ears). Here are some pics...
This is Ari at 10 months of age
This is Ari at 18 months of age - not a great pic - but it shows all the color coming through now...
Hi Sheri, Here you go, a couple of updated pictures of Sadie. She will be 9 mos old at the end of the month.
She's 8 mos old in the pictures. She was standing on a snowbank on the patio, it's about shoulder high to me. I took the pictures through the bathroom window so they are a little dark because of the screen lol.
She thinks she's guarding 'The Estate' out there LOL
First of all, Lucy's coloring is really pretty. I think I would have been a bit disappointed when she started changing at first too, but now you can see how pretty it is.
I think Sophie's back is like Sadie's now. Being GD's, your girls have a little longer hair, Sadie is an LD. Sadie is 9 mos old today and her coat is getting longer but I don't notice a texture change. She has only had the hair on her beard and around her eyes trimmed. The hair on her back looks frizzy when I comb it out but it is soft, just not as soft as the rest of her. As soon as I get done combing her she shakes and returns to that 'just out of bed' look. She was shedding like crazy for a month or so, but now it doesn't seem so bad. I'm hoping as her adult coat comes in she will stop or be low shedding but who knows.. lol. So far she doesn't mat but that may change as her coat continues to come in.
Sadie looks more apricot when you see her against the white snow, than she does otherwise. I think that is the same with Sophie, Was the poodle a red one or was the golden a deeper red color? She does look like she has red in her for sure.
Bottom line, you have a couple of very pretty girls there!!
They go to a groomer every three months. We think about combing them more when they are due for grooming. The week or two before an appointment they might get combed daily, otherwise we don't do much. Neither one mats much. They get out in the woods often. Their dark color probably hides more dirt than I want to know!
Well it is a while since somebody post something here...
Our Thalie have the body and the slim face of the poodle regarding some Poodles expert of my friends. She is curly, more in her back than her sides and belly but she is only 8 months so her hair can change later on. She shed but a lot less that my Golden Gamine.
As for intelligence... I think that Labrador and Golden are very intelligent too but more submissive than Poodle, so easier to train. Thalie have certainly a lot of Poodle's mind. She pick up very fast but will not let go as easy. Example, she decided that our bed was more confortable than her's. Easy to figure that out but will not obey if we ask her to go down as for Gamine it was a piece of cake to train her not to jump on our bed... I can see that she will get things on her way a lot easier than Gamine. She know how to play the sad eyes very well!
She will be "more" retriever than Gamine. She love to go after the ball and can do it to a longer period than Gamine.
As for eating, it is not that she is picky but will sniff everything before taking it. Gamine just open her mouth...
They both have a very different personality and that make them both priceless.
We love them both and we would not want to change neither one personality.
