Hi Everyone,
I am 45 and married. Our daughter is 20 and just got into the nursing program at Medical College of Augusta. I work Part-time at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Ga as an ICU Pharmacist. My husband is also a Pharmacist!
My daughter and I are extremely close(she is an only child) and both she and my husband were worried about my adjustment. That is where Parris comes into the story. We got Parris 1 month before Elizabeth went to college 2 years ago. I cannot imagine life without her!! Thanks Adrianne on such a good idea for a group.

Kim,
you are very welcome. Is your daughter far from you? I don't know the map of Georgia. My oldest works with DH & I and the youngest got married Sept 07 and Mother's Day '08 she and her husband drove off into the sunset to Pittsburgh, a 6 hour drive away. I thought it was bad when the girls left for college! I am hoping they will be moving back in NJ soon.
Adrianne,
Actually, she is going to a satellite of MCG in Athens, Ga. which is only embarassingly 45 miles away from Lawrenceville. I can't imagine how hard it is when a child REALLY moves away.
Hi Kim,
It is very hard to have my daughter so far away. The 3 of them, 2 daughters and SIL lived together 20 min away from us for 2 years before the wedding. I had them home every Sunday for dinner.
I always knew that my youngest would never live home again once she left for college- that who she was her entire life and my oldest would never go that far away. SHe lives 20 minutes away, works for us and comes home to cook dinner for us a couple of times a week. She just loves to cook and loves my 'new' kitchen and I love watching her. I clean, she cooks, we talk. Then we play with Samantha.
My younger daughter comes home about once a month but I haven't seen her since just after Christmas. It has been too long. When she is home, the 3 of us cook, clean, talk and play.
I miss the tumult (Jewish word for craziness) of having all 3 on Sundays tho I must admit, I love the quiet when it is only Mark and Samantha. I just want it all.....
Wow, it sounds like you have such amazing relationships with your daughters. What a treat to have your oldest daughter come over and cook and "hang out". Times to treasure!!!
I also miss all the "drama" of my daughter and her friends. My daughter also LOVES to cook. We watch mostly to Food Network when she is home.
Even though I miss her so much, I am proud to watch her become this neat young woman. I stay really busy. Like I said before, I work part-time, but I love to design jewelry and any other textile type of crafts like crochet, knitting, smocking, etc. etc. Lately, I have spent a lot of time with Parris and agility. Like you, I want it all too!!!
What kind of jewelry do you design. I am going to start another discussion where we can show off anything that we want to - jewelry, gardens, baking, crafts........
Off topic, on topic, whatever!! Just cause we can!!! Age does have it's pleasures (had a CRAFTS moment - couldn't think of a better word)
I design all types of Jewelry. My latest design is a woven bracelet using Sapphire chips and it is working up nicely. I love the idea of your new discussion. Maybe I will post some pictures. Fun!!

I'm 56 and married for almost 26 years..I live in Mass. I have two grown children. Our daughter is 24 and lives in Boston. My son still lives with us but he's 22 with his own life. We have one mini english goldendoodle names Beckett. He's is the sweetest, smartest, most loveable puppy. He's now almost 11 months old.
They do fill the space of the teenage years - all the hustle and bustle of after school activities, weekend sports, etc, etc, etc.....
Then its the weekends and laundry when the human kids come home from college.
Then it's the resumes and interviews.
Now my only big plans on my weekends is what time and which park we go to.

PRICELESS
I'm 54, married for 36 years, mother of 2 daughters who have blessed us with 6 grandchildren. 1 daughter lives nearby with her 2 boys but our older daughter's husband's job has them living all over the country with their 4 children. We have 2 wonderful doodles, Zeke 11 months & Lily 9 1/2 months. Looking forward to retirement but can't see the light at the end of the tunnel yet!
I would be semi-retired today if DH, my boss, would allow it. I take a day off each when we have school but I would love just to work 3 days a week and not have to think about our business the other 4. Maybe some day
Funny how close our lives seem to be - one so close, one so far. Big difference, you get to have 2 doodles AND grandchildren. You win!!! . I hope to catch up with the 2nd doodle and GC.
