I first tried to rescue a golden doodle, but wasn't successful finding one close enough to me. Petfinder and idog are the best places. Just keep checking. It's too bad they don't let you search by doodles, you have to search under poodles. We are now waiting for one from a breeder about 1 1/2 hours from us. Our breeder actually has one that she is looking to rehome. She is on this site. Her username is Old Mill Doodles. Her name is Valerie.
Did you see the post on the main page about the female golden doodle? Here is the link in case you do not see it - http://doodlekisses.com/profiles/blog/show?id=2065244%3ABlogPost%3A.... I have several older puppies that I have reduced in price but I did not mention it before because it sounds as though you have an interest specifically in a rescue dog. Frequently the gang on the doodlezoo are very active in doodle rescues and have knowledge of them. Many act as foster homes for them while waiting to find permanent homes, you may want to pop in there if you have not already. How exciting for you, best of luck!
I personally met all the gals at a conference in Texas last weekend. A stellar group of dedicated people who work endless to place rehommed or rescued doodles....
