It's not very common for breeders to breed this mix on purpose -- 99% of the time F1b refers to a backcross to a poodle rather than to a retriever... Since even the F1 still often sheds and one of the main goals of doodles is lower shedding...the goal is lost if more retriever is added. I can't think of anybody on here that has the same kind of goldendoodle that you do... possibly one or two Max? My guess is that most of your puppy's littermates will look like slightly shaggy retrievers or very retriever like. What is your puppy's coat like?
I do. Buddy's mom is a pure bred golden, and the sire was F1 goldendoodle. The litter of 7 produced two apricot pups and 5 black pups. You can see pictures of buddy on my page (the blonde dog) - we also rescued and rehomed one of buddy's littermates (maxwell) photo attached. They were as different as night and day from looks to temperment! Neither shed at all.
Hi. Buddy reminds me very much of Macy in the pic when he was a pup. There coat is very similiar. I love the way Buddy looks now that he's big. I'm hoping Macy turns out as cute. Macy's mom is a pure bread retriever also. In the litter she got pregnant by another retriever and pregnant by the dad at the end of her cycle. So, their was 5 pure bread retrievers and 2 apricot goldendoodles in her litter. How old is Buddy now??
I am in the process of getting a puppy that the Mom is a doodle and Dad is a golden. I am wondering what kind of coat they may have. Any idea? thank you!
Josie's mom was golden doodle and dad was golden retriever. She is 3 yrs old now, and has been a fabulous dog. She is so well mannered, easy to train, easy to house train, gentle, I couldn't have asked for a better dog. Her hair is straight, a little curly on the back of her neck, rump and she has "tail feathers" at her back end. She does shed, but not as bad as a full retriever as her hair is very thin too.
