Lori, would you mind also putting this is the DK Cookbook...you'll have to join the group. We started that one for recipes only, for those who just want to look up a recipe without reading through all our "stuff".
Thanks for contributing this...looks yummy!

Our six month old Goldendoodle Lexi is a fussy eater. She looks at food and walks away. After several kibble products I put her on Orijen large breed puppy food . She still didn't eat well. At the suggestion of a friend we bought marrow bones from the butcher. We heat in the microwave for approximately one minute and then mix around a teaspoon of marrow with the kibble. We also mix some warm water with the juice in the container for a little gravy. I am talking a total of a tablespoon of both. Lexi goes wild for it.
I just did something I was planning on doing for a while...I feed Canidae and have a 'treat jar' that is actually just Canidae ... (my dogs are easily pleased! LOL).
Welll...I decided to make the treats more exciting and not at all more expensive I would buy a 'fancier' food and use THAT kibble as a treat. So I bought a small bag of Solid Gold for adults and THAT is now their 'treat'. I ALSO found some locally made crunchy pumpkin based medallions too so I got a box of that too =)
HA! I got them at PetCo. The brand is "Wet Noses" (no corn, wheat, or soy)...it's the pumpkin flavor, organic, and made in USA with USA sourced ingredients. It's actually made in my state. And as i type this i have the box next to me so all the doggies are salivating at my sides.
You know the dried fruit like papaya, pineapple and bananas? Jack loves that and it's not too expensive. And people can eat them too. But I'm giong to check out wet noses. They sound good too.
Our new puppy comes home next month, and I want to start her out with the right kind of treats and chew toys. I've seen a lot of discussion about filling Kong toys with yogurt, peanut butter, kibble, etc., and treats, such as carrots, apples, dried fruit, cheerios, and goldfish crackers. Of course, I plan to make some homemade treats, too. But, what about commercial treats and chew toys like pigs ears, chew bones, booda bones, nylabones, dog biscuits, and other packaged dog treats? Have you found any of these treats to be appropriate and safe for puppies and/or adult dogs? Thanks for the help!!
