Lexi, our white 8 month Goldendoodle has skin that is pink in color. I am afraid that out in the Florida sun she will be getting sunburned. It is really a problem on the boat or at the pool. Has anyone heard of a doggy sunblock?

I would ask your vet. If there is no doggy sun block maybe he/she could recommend something else, like a swim jacket for your dog or maybe even human sun block?
Will do, I will drop vet an e mail and post if I get an answer from her. Thank you.
I don't know about doggy sunblock, but when I lived in Fl, I used to have spray-on sunblock for horses. I don't remember the name, but it was used to keep dark horses from fading in the sun. Might work on your doodle!

There is a product by Chris Christensen called "Ice on Ice" spray. It is a leave-in conditioner (very nice in its own right just for that purpose) & also contains sunscreen. Not sure how much coverage/protection it would provide, but you can check it out here:

Good luck!
Thank you, He has some interesting products and it looks like he participates in shows. I will look into his products and consult with our vet to see what she thinks.
Interesting question. I don't know about a sunblock for dogs, although my husband , MUST at all times have sunblock on. Because of toxicity, we use products made for babies, i.e. Coppertone Water Babies. Some of these products are not as water soluble and tend to stick to the skin ( stick to fur).
Another idea, don't cut or shave your dogs hair. In the summer the hair actually keeps the dog cool and protects its skin.
We use Ice on Ice on Oski (he's a blond F1 goldendoodle) & it keeps his hair from bleaching. Last summer I was lazy & didn't use it much (maybe once a month only) & he hair got very light without it. Looking forward to the warmer weather! (Portland is a mud pit right now)
Yup - I bought some in Florida. Of course, I never really got the chance to use it. It is called
'Natural Care - Sun Spray, Sunscreen for Dogs'. Comparable to SPF 15.

Not sure if 15 is strong enough for Lexi with that gorgeous pink skin of hers. Check with your vet and groomer - which one are you using now, by the way?
Hi Lee, Barbara, Adrianne!
Everyone is raving about the groomer in Hollywood....I think maybe I told you about them, Lee and Barbara? They just did Gracie (Michelle's gdI and I will attest to the fact that she looked Mawvellous! They are Ultimate Pet, on Hollywood Circle. A little bit of a schlep for you, but not far from our doodle romp sites.
