I took Rocky to a local pet store to be groomed last Friday. They have a Puppy Package and I thought it would be a good idea to expose him to that. Upon picking him up, the girl that groomed him told me he did great and he was the biggest sweet heart!

So after I got him home, I noticed that he was limping. I checked him out and couldn’t figure out what was bothering him. I called the store to ask if anything had happened. They told me that he might have slipped in the bath tub. She went on to say that they have a vet there and I could bring him in. Of course I took him. Rocky made no verbal sounds while being poked and stretched. The Vet thinks it’s a soft tissue problem. She gave him an anti inflammatory shot and pills to take home. They did draw blood to make sure that was ok. They told us to restrict his activity and bring him back in 2 weeks at which point, if he’s still having problems, they will sedate him and do x-rays.

As of this morning, he’s still the same. He can walk using that leg but he’s still limping and when he’s just standing, he lifts that leg.

If he's still not better by this Friday, should I take him back for x-rays? Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks,

Patty

Wow. I really don't like the fact they did not tell you ANYTHING until you asked!! I am pretty sure that they noticed him limping!! I hope Rocky feels better soon.....
If the vet gave Rocky an anti-inflammatory shot and pills and he has not shown signs of improvement by now, I would certainly give the vet a call and I also think I would be taking him to his own vet. We as humans start to feel better after three days of medication so why shouldn't Rocky. I would be all over the PetSmart people and really demand that they do what is necessary to make sure Rocky is OK...i.e., pay his bills from visiting his own family vet! For him to be acting this way, something certainly did happen to him and someone is covering up! If he slipped in the tub they would have or should have been, right there to see it.

I hope Rocky is feeling better even as I write this! Good Luck.

Good news, Rocky is feeling much better. When I got home from work yesterday, I was greeted by a very happy, tail waggin, energized dog. I’m sure you all can relate to how relieved I was. I will still get him checked by my Vet, just to be safe. Keeping his activity restricted for the next week and a half, will surely be entertaining. Thank you all so much, for your support and concern.
Happy St Patricks Day!
