Spaying complications

My Misty, who will be 6 months old tomorrow, was spayed on March 9th and she hasn't been herself since. She went in at 40 lbs. and she's already down to 35 lbs. She's lethargic and throwing up (not as much now, as before) She also isn't eating her dog food at all. She'll eat other stuff we give her, but sometimes she even refuses steak. She hasn't had a bowel movement since Monday (4 days ago). The vet has been monitoring her and he's giving her shots of antibiotic every 2 days. I'm starting to wonder if she has some sort of allergic reaction to the antibiotic. I'm so worried about her. Has anyone dealt with this, in the past, with their baby girl? I just want to see her get excited about something.

I am relieved for you that it isn't Addisons - did the vets say why her liver was twisted? just something she was born with? I am so happy that she is on the road to recovery. Please keep us posted.

They don't really know how Misty's liver twisted. They didn't feel it was something she was born with. It could have happened when she was under anesthesia, which I believe. We brought a very healthy, vibrant puppy to the vet to get spayed. We can't prove that it's the vets fault, but what can be proved, is that the vet didn't take the appropriate action, when he knew something was wrong. I went to see Misty last night and my heart broke. She was so fragile. She still isn't eating, but they said if today's blood test turns out the way they anticipate, we can bring her home. As nervous as I am about that (the hospital is an hour away), I know she needs to be in her comfortable surroundings.

I'm sure she'll perk up once she's back home with you and gets the TLC she's used to! It must have been awful for all of you to go through this, but thank goodness that someone competent found out what the problem was and has fixed it. Take care and hope she's home with you soon.

Karen, I missed the last days to check on updates and I was shocked to read the whole story now. Poor Misty has been through so much now. I hope that everything is alright after your last update and that you can bring her home soon.
