Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We have a friend that needed to re-home thier dog. They say they got Sophie from a friend that thought she was too roudy for her small children. They say she is a Labradoodle, don't know who the breeder was, but said they paid quite a bit for here. She has a chip but it is not activated. I found the seller of the chip and tied to find who the breeder was. The woman at the store in Iowa that sold the chip to the breeder said that she was not able to give out the breeders name. She then called the breeder and the breeder would not even talk to me..

So I would like to know what kind of doodle you all think she is. She is the sweetest dog we have ever had. Just an angel. She is 1.5 years old and has been cared for by the vet, and is up to date on all medical stuff.

So what do you think Labradoodle or poodle? What ever she is we think she is the BEST...

Darn...can't see the pic (photobucket blocked at work).
Do you have Sophie right now or is she with your friend? Did you adopt her from your friend or are you trying to help your friend find her a home?

If you are trying to help FIND her a home...One option is to have your friend work with IDOG: http://idog.biz/IDOGRRR.html -- they are the main rescue organization of the USA with foster homes all around. They have many adoptees waiting and may have a great family for her. There are also many on here SEEKING a doodle or who work with rescue to help in this manner. Where is Sophie located?
Yes we have Sophie now. I am just trying to get some input as to what you all think she looks like. I do not really know about the fleece to wool type coat and was just looking to find the best way to groom her. When we first got her she was pretty matted and the groomer said she needed a shave. In these pics her coat is about 1 inch and she was clipped about 4 weeks ago.
Thanks,
David, Betsy and Sophie
I think she looks more like a goldendoodle than a labradoodle....
I'd say she isn't a poodle. I don't have enough experience to tell you GD or LD though.

She is a cutie and she is canine. I'd bet my last dollar on that. :)

I would say she is a gorgeous goldendoodle. But what do I know?
Check out the Grooming Group. Great tips in there to help you keep Sophie free of mats.
Well, regardless of whether she is a poodle, a goldendoodle, or a labradoodle, there is no doubt at all that she has a poodle coat. Which means she needs to be brushed & combed all the way down to the skin several times a week to keep the matts at bay. She will need professional grooming about every 6 weeks, although if you keep up with the matts, you can probably go 7 or 8 weeks. (Unless you want to keep her shaved down like that.) Hair needs to be plucked from the ears at the groomings, or every 6-8 weeks.
I have one question: if the original owners got her from a breeder, how can they not know who it is?
If I read correctly, I think this is her second rehome and that's why they don't know the breeder.
That was my understanding too. Current owners got Sophie from a friend who got Sophie from a friend.
She looks like a doodle, but I too don't know what kind. Glad she has a loving home now. She's a cutie!!!
She's adorable! I think F1b labradoodle. She looks more poodle than lab and F1 goldendoodles usually have a bigger head.
She is just as cute as can be....good luck!!
She's cute =) (now that I can see her!) Definitely more poodle than retriever, but hard to say exactly what. In any case she looks like a lot of doodles on here so she very well could be a labradoodle (F1b generation or higher). Congrats on a sweet new addition to your home and for taking her in to give her a happy life with you =)
